Best standmount speakers for 2K ?

Im in the final phase of choosing, but im always willing to take a peek/listen to someting I overlooked. (Im declining to mention my choice).

Feel free to give your 2 cents worth with thanks in advance.

I hate to sound like a broken record, but if you're going to spend $2k on speakers, you'll be a lot happier if you audition them first.

Listening? I was thinking of just putting them on handsome stands and looking at them.

The VMPS 40 won Best of CES on TechTV. They have been highly praised as high performance/low cost speakers. I haven't heard them myself, but from what I've read I think they would be worth an audition.

The Ribbon Monitor One is a smaller version of the VMPS 40 at $1580/pair w/free shipping & 30 day evaluation period.

I went through the same exercise about 2 years ago and decided on Talon Peregrines (in the used market) after hearing more than a dozen different monitors in the $2k range - but I didn't hear everything out there and it was with my ears and a while ago... let us know what you decide when you get there.
