HD Video PMP with the following features.....?

I'm looking for a Video-based PMP to use around the house to play a mix of movies, assorted videos and music.  My requirements are as follows:

 

-- ~4.8" screen capable of 800x480

-- Support for the normal video CODECS and 720p capability

-- 32GB Flash WITH SD expansion --or-- HDD with 60+GB storage

-- Gapless playback and good SQ (hey this is Head-fi after all)

-- A half-way descent UI (OS doesn't matter: Flash, WinCE or Android all OK with me).

 

I have looked at the following units and discounted them as candidates for the following reasons:

 

1.  Cowon O2: Screen resolution = 480x272

2.  Cowon V5: Horrible UI!  No gapless (I believe)

3.  Cowon A3: No longer available, many problems reported with a phenomenon known as the "White Screen of Death"

 

Any other suggestions?

Archos 5 could be a good choice. I frequently use a non-Android 120GB HD version and it satisfies perfectly most of your requirements.

OK, call me picky - but I'm really turned off by their CODEC support.  Isn't it true that you need to pay for many commonly used CODECs?

Well, yes. I think that Archos has a quite ugly commercial attitude, at least about these two points:

  • If you want to play certain codecs you must buy a license. Installing a patched firmware with DTI Games is illegal.
  • Charging the player with the included USB cable will take 6 or 7 hours. To get it charged in 3 hours you must buy another accesory.
