Amp+DAC for Denon D5000?

Hi, I'm new to head fi and all the good stuff. I just recently obtained a pair of Denon D5000 and after reading around, I have an image of a setup that looks something like this:

uDAC-2 ---> Matrix M-Stage ---> Denon D5000

Is this a good setup?

I've tried a pair of DT990 600 Ohms before and I really liked the sound, especially the large soundstage. In that respect I think the D5000 has a much smaller soundstage? I'm kind of hoping that a DAC+AMP will kind of widen the soundstage a bit. I'm also thinking of doing the markl mod to dampen the bass a bit.

I listen to mostly vocals and contemporary Christian but am currently really liking oriental pop (CJK).

Please note that I currently do not have a DAC nor an amp and there's a budget constraint of ~$500

On paper that sounds like a good setup.  I think you should go for it.  That should cost no more than 500.  I wasn't a fan of the original uDac, but this new one supposed fixes some of the shortcomings some of us had with the original.

How does the setup work with a DT880/990 600ohm? I might decide to get one later on

I'm also thinking of getting a Matrix mini-i DAC instead and get a M-stage later, how well does the mini-i work with the D5000?
