"Though it is yet to be ready for the market, here is an early picture of what it might look like (both earpieces in picture are right side)" from In Ears Matter.
So it may in fact not look anything like that by the time we start seeing them.

That's okay, just piques my curiosity more.
And my wallet is already groaning...
Loving the fact that I get these for free with my HM-602 pre-order.
Anybody got RE-262 yet? Postponed buying RE-252 for so long. Now, this is tempting. Can't wait for the first review to come out
maybe when the RE262 comes out there will be some good deals on used RE252s
ohhh im so excited
should get them by next week
A $99 sale on either won't hurt. But, it's too much to ask
If not for the build quality...
A news update: http://www.inearmatters.net/2010/09/upcoming-ortofon-e-q5-and-hifiman-re262.html
150 ohm is great news , headfiers must get a real use of their portable amps. really exciting , can't wait for the reviews.
Hope my RE1 wud have some company now
I actually really liked the fit of the RE252 (I know Im in the minority here). I've got to stop reading this forum, now I want this and the DBA-2..
e-Q5 with no strain relief sounds like a bad idea to me. Although the RE262 is definitely interesting. I did not expect it having 150 ohms so hopefully my J3 can do a decent job since I already know clip+ won't be a good choice esp since sensitivity is supposed to be low as well. I do have a dac/amp that should be able to do that for my netbook so that shouldn't be an issue. We shall find out soon when the RE262 comes out and I can't wait
Thanks for the update ClieOS.
I don't mind 150ohms. It just dedicates an amp to it which a lot of people tend to have anyways. The RE252 and RE-ZERO are alternatives for lower power applications.
I am interested too but seems like the prices of RE are going up.
""Third, price is estimated to be around US$200~$250. Last, it will start shipping in a week or two.""
