Frank Zappa's "Apostrophe" is a revelation to listen to with the T1... I just wish they were more comfortable; the pads are soft but the headband puts too much pressure on your head. That's a pretty important issue for me, almost as important as sound quality

Hi guys,
Just chiming in to start up this thread. I used search but did not find t1 owners thread, so I decided to make my own.
So I'm really liking what I'm hearing out of debitsohn's T1 that I reterminated to balanced. I mainly tested his with Roc and Metal and the sound was great! Easily my best Metal phone. Below are some of my initial impressions of it.
- The tonal balance is excellent and offers very lifelike timbre.
- Midrange is fluid and extremely transparent with exceptional detail.
- Treble is very extended and detailed without being harsh like other headphones can be.
- Bass is just awesome. It reminds me so much of the DT990's bass, but has slightly less impact and goes much deeper.
-The soundstage is but not HD800 massive. Kinda a little bit below the K701.
-Transients are also very good and so is the decay of notes and other sounds.
That's it for initial impressions on debitsohn's.
When mine arrives Wednesday I will post more impressions.
Ive got my t1, I dont think the bass goes deeper than my DT990 600ohm, both running from auditor....hmmm

The bigger difference is better definition and control too on the T1s (and without the mid-bass hump of the DT990s).

I've been doing some comparisons between the T1, DT-880 600 ohm, and my old Sennheiser HD-545. I definately don't think the 880's are within 70% of the T1 as I've read in other posts. The only time I seem to prefer the 880's was with some electronic music. T1's are way better with everything else.
And where it gets interesting is when I compare it to the HD-545. The T1 beats it, but just by a little. Slightly better in soundstaging. And also slightly better in timberal accuracy. But hard to justify the jump in price.
But we'll see I'm planning a WA3 in the future and compare them again......

I got a DT-880 250 Ohms, and I don't think it is even 50% of the T1. It's a completely different league, let's say. I been listening to Eric Clapton first solo album, and it's like I'm listening it for real for the first time ever, even though I had a good stereo on my car some years ago and used to listen it very often during long trips.

Yep, I was really surprised how much better the T1s were than the 880s, cause I had a few people say it wasn't a huge step up. It wasn't "night and day", but it was certainly significant and easily discernible within the first few minutes. Whether the improvements are worth the premium in price is an individual decision, of course, but with me it was a no-brainer after the fact. Especially when you can get the T1s for under $1k, they're a great buy.

Another +1 also coming from the 990s.
I just got the T1's yesterday.
They were something of an impulse buy. I am kind of freaking out about spending $1,000 on impulse but I really like what I am hearing so far.
At least I have 30 days to decide if I was crazy or not. Still need a proper desktop amp though.

Nice...you'll definitely need a solid amp for them. I see you also have the DT1350s....I love those as much as I do the T1s...fantastic little portables.

What about the difference between the T1 and other (lower) Beyers with the Tesla driver...
I picked up a T70 for a closed can and I think they're pretty great. I like the more relaxed and airy sound than I get with my grados for a lot of classical and jazz pieces.
Probably not going to go and splurge on a T1 too soon, but if they're also a lot better than this, I'd be tempted to keep a vague lookout for a good deal on a used pair.

The T1 is the beyer flagship headphone and the best sounding beyer to my ears (by a good margin).
