Yeah I meant to say T5P, but I hit the 0 instead of the P on my keyboard.

Thank you all for the replies. Had I looked further downs the page on Beyer's site I would have seen it.

I find the specs and descriptions confusing. The photos look like both the T1 and the T5P are the same semi open design. The T5P cord is not balanced, OK as we do not go to that church. The transducer technology appears as identical as the price.

Would there be any sonic difference between these phones at all? Other than being easier to drive, I can't discern a difference at all.

So I have heard, but some official Beyer info says they are both "Semi closed." Other sources, like the PDF Spec Sheet, state "closed." And closeup photos seem to show identical screening. So I was confused. Thanks for the clarification.

That is what I get for not being able to read the original German.

Well guys I should have the LCD2 and HE6 for comparison to the T1. Also Baka1969 will  bring his Gilmore Lite and HD800 so we will be giving comparison on the sound and quality of the big 4 plus the D7000. Look for our writeup next week it looks like some serious fun and we finally have the opportunity to hear all in the same room at the same time. Look forward to posting impressions.

For me, DT880 and T1s are open headphones. They sound like open headphones...they leak sound like open headphones. Semi open (or semi closed) is kind of like semi pregnant to me.

Totally agree - it's a bad marketing term.  The T1 are open headphones for all practical purposes.

Yeah, I've seen the term used for Sextetts a lot, especially.  I know what they mean by that - they're not open as some of the other open headphones on the market with smaller openings - but for all practical purposes what really matters in real life use is that it either leaks a lot of noise or don't.  By such standards, Denons should also be classified as "semi-closed" as well, since their "acoustic optimizer" in reality is just a small vent/opening around the cups (which allows for more soundstage/openness but at the same time losing a lot of isolation)

I beg to differ. I live jazz and jazz music has plenty of bass such as double bass, bass guitar, organ and drums, therefore HD 800 may not be suitable for Jazz. However, T1 is great for jazz but I have the dt-990 which is an excellent choice/much cheaper alternative to the T1.  Yeah, T1 may be my upgrade...

The T1 is my favorite can and frankly I have the 770 600 ohm Beyer and may have some similiarity in house sound but that it nowhere near the T1 in sound quality and I have never regretted buying the T1 and the bass I think is just right and very tight and controlled and cant see myself ever selling this can. LCD2 coming for comparison. To me there is no cheaper alternative.

Serial Number 2803 reporting for duty. Got them on Tuesday and burning them in currently. Impressed with rock music especially so far.
