Try the SACD remaster of Pink Floyd's DSoTM CD and you will be greatly rewarded. This master is great but not as good of my MFSL CD of it. The MFSL one sound far better.

I have the Pink Floyd SACD. I also think that the best recording I heard of Dark Side was the MSFL Vinyl copy I had but no longer own any vinyl was the best recording of it better than the SACD reissue which is PCM not DSD because of the transfer. The best SACD are all DSP recordings which are newer recordings. I need to seek out the Moody Blues as I do not have those all my vinyl was sold last year.

I am a click away from pulling the trigger and buying WA2. I can either buy that or buy a WA3 from someone selling theirs in the UK. 3x price difference.

actually the key is picking up the right tubes.

If you can cover the extra $$$, the WA2 is the way to go. They have similar sounds, but the WA2 is better sonically and works with a wider variety of cans. For example, it's currently my favorite amp for the relatively hard to push HE-500.

As mentioned, though, you'll want to have some cash left over for tubes...

Can one get close to the WA2 sound quality with the right tubes on the WA3?

Do you guys recommend getting tubes on Woo Audio website below the amp, or rather somewhere else? Should I trust eBay in this respect?

Are tubes also supposed to be matched for a particular can or simply ones are better than others for al headphones?

What tubes for T1s?

Hope they are not going to cost me another $1k.

This should be fine.  You want to hear people's impressions. some tubes sound smooth. some tubes sound bass light/heavy. depends what sound you want it to sound

I would not buy from Ebay. The two best tube vendors I deal with are Jim McShane his email is JMcshane@prodigy.net and he is listed on audio asylum first page. Kevin Deal at Upscale Audio. You get the best tubes and properly matched from these two guys the best dealers I have worked with in 17 years of using tubes.

congrats.  never heard of a woo amp but my guess is an OTL amp should match better with t1 than a SET amp.

A question to you guys. How is WA2 going to change the T1s' sound? I am listening to them from my HA-160D and I have to say it is a pleasant surprise, I was led to believe they would sound outright awful with this amp but they do not. I am wondering thus, how WA2 will change them.

Do they sound dry to you? It sounded really neutral on my WA 6 SE. everything is just in the right amount. except the crazy soundstage. Seems like I just cannot enjoy something that's too neutraletysmile.gif

The differences I noticed in switching from a SS to an OTL tube amp were mainly a big improvement in dynamics, a bit more smooth / lush mid, and somewhat better frequency extension on both ends of the spectrum.  The improvement in dynamics was really impressive -- the T1 was completely awakened / revitalized IMO.

They do not sound dry to me. Not bass light for sure. Not bright. Very defined, well controlled, simply great.

Disclaimer: I like a bit of brightness so this is certainly affecting my opinion here.
