As for the headband differences, I already showed you twice agoston.berko.

I've got #4512, new headband (without logo on the side, only at the center), but I haven't got a clue which version it is. I don't think it's really bright, but it's brighter then my LCD-2. I don't think it's very warm, but it's warmer then a K501......

I can't compare it with another T1...

I'll probably keep 'm as bed cans, pac. Can't see myself lying in bed with a portable rig, listening to orthos:P

I'm not 100% sure, but I probably will keep them. Their amazing gaming performance is what really makes getting rid of them hard, otherwise you know the LCD2 R1/ED8 is enough wink.gif

yes I listen while lying, before sleeping. T1's are way more suitable for that then the orthos. And the Ed8's, well, I barely dare to use them and there's no way I'd do that lying in bed:P (let's call it the 'Currawrong' syndrome:P:P) (sorry Amos, you know you're my favorite Admin, lol, love ya man)

Again, lest people think some of these posts about two versions are the undisputed truth, my T1 was one of the first 100 made, and it is most definitely neither bass light nor bright. So it is NOT the case that "older versions" are that way. Maybe some are, but for SURE not all.

Exactly...mine is serial number 11XX and it is far from bass light or bright. smile.gif

Skylab is absolutely right.  Getting stuck with an overly bright, bass light T1 is independent of manufacture date or Serial #.

If I decide to buy these, I will drill it in my head "Mine will be the bassy, warm version".

Just kidding.. I'm hoping B&H or ProAudioStar have a demo when I get to NY...

Agreed.  I couldn't find any kind of logical correlation between bass/treble balance and serial number on the T1.

SMH

This thread has shown me there are Head-fi'er's opinions, views and insights I do follow or respect and others that are quite suspect. The problem is that there seems to be misinformation being thrown about and that will mislead people who are reading this and other threads. I think there's a difference between being subjective and being outright off base.

I just hope readers are taking what's said in this thread with the large grains of salt they deserve and can determine who's word should carry the weight they each deserve.

I will of course reserve judgment until I actually hear them.

But I do have a feeling that the T1 might be too neutral and analytical for me. I honestly like a bit of coloration with my sound quality tastes. We will see what happens...

The T1 is not analytical.

The T1 is a warm and slightly dark headphone. It has all the detail of the HD800 but the way it's presented is not as in your face as how the HD800 does it. The detail on the T1 sounds more subdued due to the darker signature. IMO it's analytical but not in a K701 way. The whole sound signature to me is very pleasing.
