Have to say the T1 sound great out of the Chord Hugo, clear as a bell and with a treble extension that keeps the characteristics of the phone without seeming fatiguing.  I had been expecting the LCD-X to be a slam dunk, but coming back to the T1 after a couple of weeks I'm loving the extra space and airyness, the LCDX seems congested in comparison.

I'm not giving up on the LCDX though, will be interesting to see how it performs with my new amp when I get it.

For now though, thumbs up to the T1/Hugo combination - any one else agree?

Thanks your experience with the T1 and Hugo is of interest. I have owned my T1's for just coming up to a year now and they still amaze me with what they are capable of delivering sonically,  pretty much on a weekly if not daily bases.

A few other headphones have come and gone during that time such as the ATH W1000X, AKG Q 701, HD 650 (still owned but listed). And while they all have been capable cans and enjoyable to listen with its always been nice to go back to the T1's again and you realise just what a great job they go about doing in their own understated way.

Is it just me or the T1s have problems with playing piano high notes?

I've really been enjoying my T1 since I got it 2 months ago. Mine has the late serial number ( 19xxx ). The T1 sounded nearly perfect in everything, EXCEPT piano notes. I'm not a big fan of piano sounds so just until yesterday I listened to 'Kiss the rain' and 'River flows in you' songs by Yiruma, I noticed there were some very noticeable 'resonances' when the high piano notes were played, especially when the volume/gain was pretty loud. The louder the music was, the 'clearer' the resonances were. The resonances can only be audible when the volume was high/loud enough and the problems only happened with certain piano songs, EVERY other instruments or the vocals just sounded awesome with no issues.

I tried other headphones like the HD800 or the ATH-M50 and none of them had the problem, only my T1. I kept avoiding EVERY piano songs since I heard the resonances. It's not a big problem but I'm a bit concerned.

Does anyone having the T1 have the same problem as me?

Thanks in advance!

Kratos.

I have really enjoyed some piano works on T1s fed by Bottlehead S.E.X. Not sure what would happen with low-quality files though (just guessing these non-classical pieces you mentioned may not have been recorded well enough, no offense). Mine is alos #19xxx.

here to hoping the T1 start sounding a lot better to many and they raise the price back so i can finally sell mine ;)

I listen  almost exclusively to classical with my T1's and I find no such problem. I have found that the T1 is far more particular about associated equipment in the chain than people give credit. I listen to classical piano and have never had a problem with the tonality. If you are getting some strange resonance there may be a problem with your pair.My serial is around 8000 but I doubt that makes any difference.

Hi Aeolus Kratos.

Would you kind enough to send me your files too ? I could compare the T1 and HD800 rendering for you ;) :beerchug:

I listened to the first and thirt song with all my headphones: On all headphones I've heard the resonance of the piano, which according to my musical experience leads to raising and lowering the right piano pedal. The most obvious was this with thet T1.
