I have the T1's and the HD650's. I have a Crack Amp Assembled which needs a fix as it's producing static for some reason, and a speed ball upgrade which needs installing. I was also looking for what is likely to be my next step up in amplication to match these two headphones. I don't want to go crazy since there is a definite diminishing return on investment, but is there a major upgrade to be had without spending the earth, or is the Crack Amp with Speed ball the appropriate end game?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

The Mainline (from Bottlehead) is a definite upgrade, but a big leap in price. Personally, having owned the Crack and a bunch of other gear (including the T1s and HD650s), I would say it's hard to best the Crack without spending a significant amount more money (like double or more). Definitely install the Speedball before making any decisions to upgrade.

Do you need help with the static issue or are you all sorted?

For myself, can someone tell me if they have had any experience with the T1's and either the O2/ODac and/or the Modi/Magni? And if so, how was it?

Thanks.

I want to know this too.

I have the O2 and Dac, but I haven't tried it with my T1's. Is there anything specifically I could try so I could describe it?

Hi There!

Some help would be awesome. Yeah I kinda got the impression unless I could find a crazy deal on a $1000+ amp for $500 I was going to struggle to do better than the Crack and Speedball. Honestly I think it's the headphone jack potentially causing the static, and I bought a replacement, but I guess I have struggled for motivation as it's a reasonable investment in time to replace the jack and then recheck everything.  Anything you can suggest around what else it could be or other troubleshooting (basics I am a newbie) would be much appreciated.

I'm just curious how they pair. Does the O2/ODac push the T1's enough? How is the soundstage in the T1's with this combo or unit compared to other relatively inexpensive amp/dac combos.

I listen to mostly metal, hard rock, some electronic as well as classic rock. I'm curious how these kinds mesh with these headphones and amp/dacs

Hi

Yes there is a whole heap of tweaks you can do to the Crack to lift its performance for very little cash you should easily notice the differences with your T1's .

But first lets get that Crack of yours back in good shape. Rather than clutter up the bb here with questions and answers go to the Bottlehead forum Crack section (link below) and use the add a new topic button and head it "Help with static problem" and a description of what the problem is your experiencing and assistance there will get it sorted.

http://bottlehead.com/smf/index.php/board,24.0.html

Once your Crack is running as it should get the speed ball installed you wont find it very difficult after building the Crack.

Then either on these two bb's on head fi (links below) or the Bottlehead Forum you can ask and find lots of help and info about making any modifications.

I have heard upgrading the crack amp can be worth while. I have even had someone make me a custom base for the Crack since I am not that handy with woodwork and not patient either :)

The community over on the Bottlehead forum are a mine of information they have been a great help to me walking me through some of the modifications I have done on my own Crack. The majority of the trouble shooting is actually done by the Cracks designer himself and additional input is given by other DIY builders who have had similar experiences and generally loads of amp builds under their belts.

The Classic and Concerto are different amps - the Classic replaced the Concerto in fact.

Corda Concerto & Stage DAC - Nice combo!

Ya, That's not the Meier Classic. Try the Meier Classic with the T1, it a good match.
