I did for a while. It's OK, but I found it a bit rough on the details.

It's a very capable little amp, and exceptional value.

Granted, they're exactly the same in side, but I know from experience that DT770, 880 and 990 all have slightly different pads, varying in inner cirlce diameter, thickness, depth and stiffness. So which exactly are the right ones for the T1? Anyone has a product number or a link maybe? Thanks!

DT880 / 990 pads are the same as T1 - the only possible variation is grey vs black. From personal experience, I think the grey look a bit crappy on the T1s :)

Just a quick question. Friend of mine has hd800 and we have the same amp/dac Nuforce Icon HDP. When i switch from the 800s to T1, i feel the bass is much better on the hd800. It is more full bodied and kicks harder. This is very strange. Could the HDP be part of the problem? Thinking of upgrading to Lehmann Black Cube.

It's not the amp, the HD800 does have better bass control. You can see on the measurements that the T1's bass distortion goes beyond 1% from 20hz to 50hz. The HD800 may not have the bass slam as hard as T1, but I suspect that's only because the T1 is semi-open, but the HD800 does have better bass extension and control (tightness).

That sounds strange... normally the HD800 is quite picky about electronics and loves to show its discontent with missing bass while the T1 is easier in that regard. Did you check for equal output volume when switching over? The T1 is 600Ohm and may end up quite a bit lower in volume if not adjusted accordingly.

Yes the volume to my ears is pretty much the same when i change the headphones. One thing. T1 nominal impedance is 600ohm, but its something like well over 1000 ohm at 100 hz. So could it be that the HDP isn´t giving enough power to bring up the bass.

That could be the problem as well I guess, T1's impedance reaches 1,000ohm at 20hz and 1,400ohm at 80hz according to headroom's measurement.

Explains a lot.

I got pretty much no bass from the NAD D1050 built-in amp (expected), some from a Vali, no change from the Vali with a Beyerdynamic A20 and finally adequate bass from a Beyerdynamic A1.

Has anybody heard or have the Lehmann Black Cube amp and how well it would drive T1.

I had the Matrix M Stage and used it many times with the T1 it drove them perfectly. It is a knock off of the Lehmann so I see no problem there. It is not going to equal the multi-thousand dollar amps around but it was very surprisingly respectable and for the price a true bargain. I replaced it with an Auralic Taurus which is clearly better but the little M Stage was not totally put to shame by even the Taurus.

+1 - in terms of power, the M-Stage seems to have enough so if the power output of the Black Cube is the same as the M-Stage you would be fine and from there it's just a question of signature.

I know people have mentioned the O2/ODAC with the T1 in this thread already, but I wanted to ask if there is a huge difference from using the O2?ODAC with the T1 as opposed to something high end like the Meier DACs and amps? I am about to buy the T1 since I love the DT 880s but I want to upgrade and I think the T1s will be a perfect upgrade. Would the O2/odac suit me well until I upgrade to something like Meier, and will the difference be very noticeable or more subtle?

I personally find the O2 to be a good amp, but not great (I've often auditioned, but never bought). I would recommend spending a little extra on the amp if you can to get something with a bit more power.

How much power do you really need with T1? O2 can already deliver 88 mW of power at 600Ohm load. That is more than enough for T1 to hit a peak of 120 dB. Beyerdynamic rated max output that T1 can sustain at 300 mW (127 dB) and that is just for quick burst.

I think it only boils down to personal preferences when it comes to amps. I can see many people prefer tube amp. for T1 but definitely not because it can deliver more power.

Although, I saw that the T1 has a nominal impedance of 600, and goes up to ~1,200 ohms in the low bass range. I'm not sure how much power that requires however.
