Nope, totally serious (so you don't all have to keep reporting his T1 review). It's easy to forget that there are people out there who simply don't understand all the stuff we've learned. Heck, I was plugging expensive headphones only into my computer's headphone socket for 15 years before I joined Head-Fi.

Does anyone here have any suggestions of an EQ software for the mac? What EQ settings should I apply for the T1 to control the treble spikes?

what are you using as a player ? i tunes ?

i'm using Vox (FLAC files).

If you find the treble a bit sharp, then on the Vox eq (pic below) apply an eq cut at 4K / 8K / 16K. You can try eq cut of only one frequency or a combination of two or all three. start with a -2 db cut & then play around but don't exceed -3db IMHO. Rest of the eq bands will be flat i.e at 0.

Based on the frequency response shown here:

I would have thought it would be best to adjust 8K down 5-10 dB and 16K 0-5 dB. Why do you recommend decreasing by no more than 3 dB?

Eq'uing too much sometimes introduces distortion, But there is also an argument that  Eq'uing up introduces some distortion but Eq'uing down not so much ( I am not technically qualified to argue either way). Start with a lesser eq cut , if that works for you then no need to go higher. If you need to go higher with EQ cuts then do so if you feel it sounds better.

In the end let your ears be your guide.

EQ down does not introduce distortion, correct.

What, introduces more distortion than whats already on the headphone ?  With an understanding of global gain, it doesn't matter what direction you go.
