The Official Beyerdynamic T1 Impressions and Discussion Thread - Page 46

Since no one has address this clearly about the headband, am I right to say:

1. Older version: all leather, no "beyerdynamic" on it. (Bass light if true)

2. Newer version: not all leather, with "deyerdynamic" label (bass heavy if true)?

Correct me if I am wrong, and from my search, I never saw a T1 with all leather headband ever online. So I still dun know what you guys were talking abt on the headband difference thing.

Someone? please? which is which? My version has "deyerdynamic" right at the middle of my headband. The other version I ever seen also seems has "beyerdynamic" near the end of the headband.  so which is newer which is older?

The new pair I have 46xx has the new headband  the top middle is suede and has beyerdynamic in the middle. The rest of the headband looks like pleather and IMO the older headband was all leather and nicer but this seems more comfortable as do the cups for some season they are a better fit for me. The sound signature has not changed from my 2265 pair and the 46XX pair I have now. They both sound the same as I remember the other pair I owned.

so the older version's headband is all leather?

Th appears to be thew first version. I believe its all leather. This on has some changes but for me these are more comfortable . I guess you should send a email to Pete at beyerdynamic for an explanation. For me it makes little if any difference

Sorry, did you mean ur "first" version is more comfortable.

I find mine (not all leather) absolutely comfortable. the most comfortable headphones I ever got.

Believe what you will but the graphs that I posted from tyll shows that there are some variations between the models.  I'm not sure if a 5db decrease near 10khz is called a different "version" but it is definitely noticeable.

Also does anyone remember if sennheiser admitted to there being different versions of the HD650 when everyone found out they used a different material for the drivers? They claim it sounds exactly the same but some feel, including myself, that it isn't true.

Well ofcourse Beyer won't admit it. I rarely see manufacturers admit such faults.

I got the newer version. and I still feel that's somewhat bright and bass light (of course it doesnt lack of bass at all but i am basshead). So I guess there isnt such thing as bass light/heavy version. it's just down to personal preference.

Can someone confirm: Is the current headband pleather or leather? This was one of the few things that bugged me about my DT880's-- after about a year of use, the pleather started to disintegrate, leaving the sticky residue on head and hands (and taking a few hairs from my already balding top!) I was hoping to avoid a repeat of that with the T1's.

When I asked about the differences, they just didn't respond to that part of my e-mail that addressed the sound signature.

All I can say is what you're hearing is the sound signature of the "defective" version.  My new ones are fine.  The only way I would have ever been able to know that there was a difference is that my first ones were bright and bass light and within a few months, the left driver failed.  Beyer USA was nice enough to exchange it for a brand new one and this one was very different from the one I had originally.  So shockingly different that I wrote to them about it........

But I'm glad they fixed the headband. bigsmile_face.gif

Btw, what are you plugging them into???? and what's your source????  If you're computer based like I am, are you using a transport??

I think we may have spoken about that....  didn't you get an 880 snap on pleather to cover it?

My '03 880s are from 2004 and on the 6th or 7th pair of ear pads....  my original snap on pleather is still OK.

I'm not sure that those graphs are wide enough apart to represent the differences between my two T-1s.  The bottom graph looks like what I have now, but my first T-1 was overly bright and bass light and neither of those graphs show that....

What those graphs show is that there are some pretty good variations among the T-1s.
