I heard this setup about 2 weeks ago. Its really good but i still think the WA2/T1 is ahead in the race.

I have a Fiio E12, it's not good enough for the T1 at all.

I recommend Leckerton portable amps, my now discontinued UHA-6 is outstanding even with my T1s.

Never heard the T1 with a WA2.  What the advantages of the WA2 are in compare to the HDVD 800 (for the T1)?

Warmer, which is very important for me. Nice bass i think its much nicer that hdvd800 for this. The soundstage is slightly bigger as well. The hdvd800 just sounds a bit colder in general but this is when switching back and forth between the 2. i dont know if it would be that noticeable otherwise but the warmth is.

I preferred it but i will say that there were other people at the meet that proffered the HDVD800. I think wisemanja uses T1/HDVD800 and he knows a lot about the amp so you could ask him also.

Reading these comments I couldn't help but think these are the usual differences perceived between solid state and tube amps. Tubes add warmth and body which works really well with some music. It also comes down to personal preference. I own both solid state and tube amps and switch depending on my mood. Tubes are a safer bet with the T1's.  There are some very good ss amps that also work well but you won't get that added tube harmonics which can be very seductive.

your absolutely right those are the usual differences, i noticed that while i was writing it. It pretty much gets regurgitated all the time but there you have it - i prefer the WA2. I even tried the HDVD600 with the NADM51 and the WA2 only had my cheap arcamrdac and i still prefered the WA2.

Go with something sub-$50 and short as possible.
