Hello. I just got a pair of the T1s. Im running em in right now straight out of my scd-555es.  I am getting a Crack/speedball amp soon, but I will need something for computer listening so I was thinking some sort of portable amp so it can do double duty. My budget is around $200 but trying for less. I know about the O2 and fiio e12 and I was wondering if these or any other amps in this price range power these PROPERLY.  Ill get a dac later, and maybe upgrade the small power transformer that is powering my scd-555es which is 220 voltage. I think that or the powercord is making it sound a bit sterile...

Thanks for any advice.

I would ask this question in the portable forum saying that you're looking for a high-impedance amp under $200 for the Beyer T1. Good luck!

Yay, received notification my T1 shipped. smily_headphones1.gif

Still undecided on an amp. frown.gif

Would a Woo Audio WA6-SE decently run the T1?

What's your budget?

I'd like to stay around the WA6-SE or below. I've read the WA2 runs the T1 very well but it would limit me to just using the T1. I have two other headphones that are lower impedance. I've also read the Meier Audio Corda Classic runs the T1. I'm on the fence, reading pros & cons till I make a decision.

I used a WA6SE for a period of time with the T1's, nothing special.

I currently am using a  Decware CSP2+ and it is special. I think an

OTL amp is better suited to the T1's.

OTL brings a smoother sound, but no good for OP's lower impedance cans.

Cobalt, would you do DIY? Bottlehead SEX is a great match with T1 and many other cans too.

That's what I've been reading, OTL would run the T1 more effeciently. I have not soldered on anything in years, I don't think I could put a kit together myself. I could bide my time till a Bottlehead Crack went for sale on the forum.

The Schiit Mjolnir did a pretty darn good job handling my T1's, along with several other cans. The only caveat is that you need to re-terminate your cable to 4-pin XLR

Where are you located, Cobalt?

And in reference to reterminating the T1 to XLR, it's actually a simple process and you can make an XLR to HP jack adapter using the T1's original jack and a bit of 2 core shielded cable. I'm not an expert solderer and it only me about an hour.

I am located in Houston, Texas, United States. As large as my city is we really have no hi-fi headphone audio stores that I know of.

Yeah I never understood that either, but Dallas and San Antonio have quite a few.

+1

the WA6-SE works OK with T1. i used Sophia and 6EW7 and liked it. smooth and huge soundstage.

however, the WA2 is much better. the OTL does a much better job with the T1's drivers and you just feel more body, better bass, smoother more natural presentation, and great musicality.

i've heard great things about the Decware CSP2+ /T1 pairing as well.

Paired the T1 with the HDVD 800, it was magic.

Well how bout a portable amp for the cans? Ive posted a question in 4 different spots and have received no response. My budget would be $130-300 but would prefer too keep it under $200.
