The Official Beyerdynamic T1 Impressions and Discussion Thread - Page 366

I've done two mods to my T1s that make them just right.  I got the cable re hardwired to a balanced XLR termination and I put the Denon stock D2K, D5K, D7K pads on them after I ripped the lining out.  These two mods does wonders for the brightness and allows you to use the full benefits of a balanced amp.

I might try those myself? What would you say they do to the sound? More or less bass?

My bass is great with these and I don't experience any treble spikes what so ever..

I'd be interested to try that. When I used my Beyer leather pads on the the T1 it turned into a horrible boomy mess.

On the other hand I have never had a problem with treble on any headphone including the T1.

Which lining did you remove?

You know the lining that's on the Denon Stock pads.  I only did it because the stock beyer and the J$ beyer pads don't have that lining on them..

Edit:  I meant the screen..

I'm running my T1's through a Schiit Lyr/Bifrost.  Anyone have a tube that is just killer with the T1?  I have a couple that I really go to right now (1967 Mullard CV4109 and 1963 Telefunken 6DJ8) but always looking for something really special that will bring out the best in my T1's.

I don't listen to modern jazz at all.

Overall the T1s are the best all rounders for my tastes, jazz included.

Pudu,

You & i seem to have similar taste...i recall you stated you prefer the W3000ANV to the TH900 and i think we both feel the same way about the HD800 mids being the best. The T1 is the only other headphone i am interested in, so i ask you: if forced to chose between the W3000 & T1 based strictly on SQ, which one would it be? Thanks.

Hey guys, I'm looking for a new set of cans. I'd like something similar to the HE500's but lighter so the T1's are on my list pretty high at the moment.

Can anyone comment on how the Beyer's compare? My main concern is not having a 'thin' sound. If I decide to go for the Beyers I will probably be keeping my Daccord/Classic to run them off.

Also, How reliable are the T1's? I've got my eye on a used pair local to me but they are out of warranty...

The T1's sound great with the Daccord/Classic. Check open box off EBay for the T1's,  significantly cheaper, however make sure you get the right dealer. Razordogaudio has one for $959.

Not really an option for me here in Aus :( They're AUD$1150 new so that'd work out about the same after currency conversion and shipping.

Sorry to hear that, Head-Fi membership should exempt all of us from this nonsense.

I might take a risk on these secondhand ones if no one can weigh in on the longevity of the T1's
