Just purchase a pair of T1's, and wanted to subscribe. Hearing you all talk about

bright instills fear, I am using a WA6se with an analog source so I hope I escape

the bright.

oooh grats!!

what tubes are you using? you can always tube roll on the WA6-SE later if you find the sound a little bright, i found the T1 to be pretty good with the WA6-SE with the right tubes.

Just purchased the wa6se at the SF show, no wait except for the show to end.

I have the stock tubes, Mullard f32 4 notch black base GZ34, 6gl7's Sophia.

I currently have hd600's and not much experience listening to headphones.

The thing I have noticed is that the more $$$ you spend the more  chance you have

funky bass and harsh highs. I come from the speaker side of the audiophile world

where this was not a problem at all, speakers present a bunch of other problems.

I am amazed at the difference rolling tubes in this amp makes I have

always run tube equipment but this is a new experience. I am looking forward to this

journey as I have found out that when the journey ends so does the fun.

What tubes do you suggest as a starting point?

i think you'll be good with the tubes you got. you should also check out 6FD7, i would start with those. the GZ34 is a faster more forward sounding tube, the sophia is wide and smooth with good bass, the 6GL7 are powerful and bassy but fun, if you get 6FD7, they seem to be some of the best tubes for the WA6-SE, powerful, dynamic, clean, and very well balanced overall.

both the gz34 and sophia are very good.

I got a pair of T1 as well, but I'm on the SS side, with the auditor. I have the W4S Dac-2 coming.

I have never got the chance to try a tube amp, maybe some day.

It's my first kit, so I don't really know what I'm buying.

I'm just reading on the forum what's good and I get second hand stuff from the forum, so far I'm pleased with the sound, even if at the moment my spl auditor is connect to my realtek onboard soundcard, I guess the dac will help. I should get it somewhere next week.

After that, no more spending :P

I must add, currently listening to "Memoirs of a geisha" sound track, it sound impressive with the T1.

Wow. You won't know yourself going from soundcard to DAC! Enjoy the ride!!

I hope, if not the wyred 4 sound dac-2 is an expensive big black box if the sound quality is the same then an on board sound card :)

It'll be money well spent given that my SoundBlaster X-Fi HD USB was a massive upgrade and the AudioQuest DragonFly even more so.

My w4s is still stuck at customs clearance, I guess I will have to wait until next week to get it, I hope my package will start moving again soon. deadhorse.gif

I'm considering purchasing a Beyerdynamic T1 as my next set of cans. Will it pair well with the Woo Audio Wa6 non se? I know it has the power but will there be good synergy between them?

I'd save a bit of cash and go with the WA3 myself, but yeah the WA6 will do just fine.

I already have a wa6 that's why I was asking. Thanks for that

From not hearing either of these pairings, I would just guess that the WA3 would be better since its OTL while the WA6 is TC
