It sounds like a poor excuse for a 1500 dollar flagship headphone thats suppose to be as neutral and transparent as possible. :P

I actually like the T1 sound signature a lot. If anything, I'd give them just a bit more body to the sound, maybe tiny bit more midbass punch and a bigger soundstage. But I'm guessing these are the exact areas that would improve with a good tube amp.

Well, I have yet to come across a headphone that has unanimous praise....even the venerable HD800 and LCD2/3s have their detractors. I sort of got lucky with my amp pairing right off the bat, though, so I think those who suggested perhaps auditioning another amp might be absolutely correct. I know I've seen several people throughout this thread mention that the T1s don't have proper synergy with the NuForce amps...so hopefully that's the problem. But even though the majority of us in this thread love these things, there is certainly the possibility that they just aren't your cup of tea, you know? And if that's the case, nothing wrong with that...there's a lot of great gear out there, enough that we should all be able to find something that makes us happy.

I would agree they're not my cup of tea in this setup, but I like the DT880 a lot, in fact, I love all Beyer's I've ever tried until now, so its kind of weird that T1's are sounding so off.  But I guess its their transparency showing how crappy the HDP is. I know I hated the guts out of that thing when I got it, I even got into an argument with  a Nuforce "spokesman" in the HDP appreciation thread because he claimed my unit is broken, thats why I dont like it, because as we know, if you dont like something it has to be broken.  Anyway, I'm stuck with it for a while until I can afford a new tube amp, so I guess I'll just have to live with it.  As things stand now, I'd say even the Sennheiser HD212pro sounds more natural and pleasant than T1 with 95% of recordings, and is not really that much inferior in terms of soundstage, detail or overall sound clarity, which really is tragic, because thats how bad T1's sound out of the HDP.

By the way, am I the only one who feels paranoid when listening to T1's?  I mean, every time I hear a pop or a distortion I stop the music and go back to that point in a track to check at various volumes and see if the distortion is in the music or the drivers themselves produced it? :P    I mean, I have some blues records that sound flawless on HD650's, and with T1's they sound almost identical for the music part of the thing, plus I hear all the tiny imperfections. A bass line on HD650 sound perfect,  but on T1 sound loose and I can hear some distortion for example. Really annoying on some recordings, takes my concentration away from the music. Damn recording engineers should do a better job in the studio. :P

Today I listened T1 with ifi can-amp. I think it is not a good match. The amp is too bright for T1, as expected, but it sounds wonderful with HD600 ... Make sense ...

What kind of music are you listening to besides blues?

I have found that headphones lesser than the T1 mask these things. Several of those older Blues recording are ripped straight from a vinyl, or analog tape that has some imperfections.

The T1's are so transparent and revealing, for me this has been a positive experience.  I prefer to hear the original recordings as they are.  beyersmile.png

That's how I am, as well. I discovered that preference when I started falling in love with Magnepan speakers. These things are so transparent that poorly recorded material will truly sound awful....but the opposite is true when you play something of quality...they'll reward you with a presentation like you've never experienced. I go after the same thing with headphone gear, of course, and the T1s do a great job with that, IMO.

I agree. It's only 2 days, but right now I wouldn't trade their transparency for more forgiveness.

ok its been almost a week with PS1000 now, i don't think i like them anymore confused_face.gif.

the T1, HD 800, and LCD-3 are better in almost every way. they seem to be improving with burn in, but they have too many flaws. any genres i would of used PS1000 for (older rock, rock, metal, alternative, jazz, vocals, and contemporary), the T1 just completely ****s on them and blows them out of the water. the LCD-3 even more...

im starting to really believe that the PS1000 are simply SR325is with bigger bass, bigger bowls, and a bigger price tag....

i don't know why i thought ps1000 so good before, i even liked them over hd 800 when compared directly.

although i guess it was only a 10 minute comparison, out of audiophile recordings that made the ps1000 sound fantastic, and a crappy BCL that didn't really pair great with the HD 800.
