I don't recall ever saying that the T1 are less comfortable than the HD-800, but if I did, I retract it. The T1 are slightly more comfortable that the HD-800 in my opinion.

The new T-1 headband is bringing the T-1s into the 880 comfort zone.  Aside from initially noticing the additional weight, the new headband causes no discomfort with prolonged use, so I have transitioned over to using them for movies.

So I actually ordered a WooAudio WA22 amp, there goes this years tax refund money :P

I do not recommend re-terminating expensive headphones?

About that new headband, since when have Beyerdynamic started including it as standard?. Also on pictures it looks like it doesn't have the Beyerdynamic logo, like the old one has? Anyway I ordered my T1 from a retailer, so I guess I might receive the old version (as they had those headphones in stock).

As for re-terminating, I'm not planning doing that to the T1 anytime soon. I wanted the WA22 because it is versatile, and should do a decent job with most high-end headphones (also I think it is the sexiest woo amp tongue_smile.gif). I was concerned about needing balanced headphones to the WA22, but found someone who had asked WooAudio about it. And apparently they recommend using balanced in for best performance, but supposedly there is not much difference if you output balanced or unbalanced to your headphones :).

I own the WA22 as well and T-1's.  I had mine re-terminated.  There is no sound difference.  However the reason I had it done to a single 4 pin XLR is because the 1/4" TRS was a bit wobbly in the WA22 and if you happened to move the cable the signal would go in and out.  I asked Jack Wu about it and he said the T-1's jack was ever so slightly smaller than a standard size.  Thus wobbly.  And I bought my T-1's from him.  I had Moon Audio do the work.  Flawless and no issues.

Re-terminate T1 is fairly easy.  And several people (including me) enjoy a step-up performance of balanced system (balanced source to balanced & fully differential amp) with balanced T1.  (Not trying to argue.  Just a report.)

And I also hear the benefit of balanced system even with my new Stax gear.  All stax amp are balanced and I had modded one that can switch between SE or balanced inputs.  The balanced route gives much open sound and wider soundstage, which is interesting to me.

So I will definitely re-terminate for W22 if you have good balanced source.  It is also easy to make a pigtail to use T1 in both SE or balanced way.

Do you have or are you waiting for the WA22?  When I referred to no sound difference it was in reference to the headphones.  The source being balanced is an enormous difference.  Before I took delivery on my Wyred4Sound DAC 2 I was using single ended and no contest w/the balanced being totally superior.  I recently took delivery on Moon Audio Blue Dragon RCA IC's for my Cavalli Liquid Fire I'm waiting on for delivery.  I went back and forth w/new IC's single then balanced for fun.  Balanced still better and of course a huge bump up in volume.  The big difference w/the WA22 is of course tube selection.  I ended up with Shuguang matched Treasures and an EML 5U4G.  Huge difference as well with the EML contributing the most.  They are expensive!  Go to the Woo amp thread for endless discussion on tube selection.  There must be about seven of us now with WA22's who weigh in on everything regularly.  A few use it w/HD800's, some LCD2's and the T-1 too.

Sorry, I misunderstood.  For what it is worth, for my head the HD800 and DT880 are both slightly more comfortable than the T1, although the HD800 can get a little loose.  Still, I would call the T1 very comfortable and I wear them for several hours at a time with no problems.

Are you sure Jack said the Neutrik jack was undersized??  Anyway, my T-1s are snug in all my amps including my Woo3.  No cutting out at all.

When is your Cavalli Liquid Fire arriving?  I'm looking forward to your impressions on the differences between the Woo22 and the Cavalli.....L3000.gif

Is it the headband that makes the difference with your T-1s?

So how do these work with hybrid amps like Shiit Lyr?

Yes I am absolutely sure Jack said that.  I'd send you the email but I deleted it.  I use to have an entire folder of emails between Jack and I.

Cavalli should be about two weeks off!

Update:    According to Neutrik, their plugs are not undersized.

This is what Neutrik e-mailed back to me when I inquired about the possibility of the T-1 plug being undersized:

Hello :
I have no idea as to what the Beyerdynamic T-1 headphones are as we do not sell to this company direct. The only thing that I can assure you is that our plugs are made to very rigid IEC specifications and none of them are undersized.

Best Regards,

With my plug you could wiggle it and it would cut out.  I have read this from other Woo owners as well.  W/the 4 pin XLR zero worries for the WA22.  That being said the 1/4" was never a death grip type of connection.  It just slid in too easy.  I have no idea.  W/my old HeadRoom Home that baby was in there.

Well that's a bit off. Only my T1s and HE-6s feel the least "snug" in my WA2 AND they both use Neutrik plugs.

Wohoo I got the T1 headphones today dt880smile.png, 4497 signing in.

It certainly feels comfy, this is the fluffier comfy headband right?

This makes me a bit worried, but I have a plan how to fix it. If it's wobbly with my amp, I'm just going to use a really tight jack adapter :)

Why do the pads look purple?  That indeed look like the new headband.
