Oh, no!!!  I'm so sorry to see this, my friend.  From your comments, it seems that the T1 is your absolute favorite, so I'm doubly sorry!  Here's to quick repair work!

That T1 stamping will weaken metal.

And if you read DG post, the band broke when she was just removing them from the head, no bending involved. I've never heard of DT880 breaking in this particular spot.

thanks guys, and yes they just broke where the t1 stamp is, no bendin involved when it broke. i just took em off my head and felt the metal just bend and break, like it couldnt handle the pressure anymore. the t1 stamp does weaken it. also when the metal adjuster is fully out, its easy for it to bend there, so it weakens over time especially if its bent before.

She can't power properly. It wont compare to the T1/WA2 i'd say.

Hey DG, just out of curiosity, which headphone do you feel is the better complement to T1s, your HD800s or LCD-2s? I heard the HD800s a little while ago for the first time and felt they definitely lived up to the hype, but I didn't really feel there was anything about them that made me want to run out and get a pair. Im wondering if the LCDs are different enough from the T1s that they would be a better candidate in terms of a complementary phone?

I sat on mine and bent it.

I was pissed at myself!!

Went on to sell that headphone, missed it, then replaced it.

I am much more careful with it now.

Sorry that it broke from just wear and tear.

hum almost 3 years and 316 pages i guess that this is the first one that break only by "normal usage" , hopes that it's just an an isolated case .

But DG have other great phones so she can wait for T1 return  redface.gif

true that!

When I first saw that T1 cutout on the phones when I got them, I thought "wow, that looks dumb. They have removed around 70% of the metal across one of the most critical stress lines of the headphones just to advertise their model number. I wonder if anyone has had them break?"

That was about 3 months ago, and now I know frown.gif

There really is very little metal along that shear point on the temples. The skeletonizing of the other arms looks reasonable but the T1 cutout is a lot. I would be tempted when returning these for service to just ask them to be replaced with the equivalent brackets from one of the older, non-skeletonized brackets from an earlier model headphone.

Meh I haven't checked this site in a month and first thing I see is a broken pair of T1!?

no way!

I never thought it was possible from the way it looks and feel :(

The feels man the feels...

if you like brighter headphones and love details/soundstage, HD 800 is different enough to be worth having. however, if you really want something different from the T1 and a darker smoother presentation, the LCD-2 would be a better complement. i personally would choose LCD-2 as a complementary headphone, its more different than HD 800 is from T1.

LCD-3 and TH-900 are on list before HE-6, i need to save up for an end-game amp for HE-6 before i get it. i also need a DAC upgrade.

Of course it weakens it. Do yo uthink you can break it by taing them off your head? I do not think so.

remember while its on your head, the metal is under constant pressure from the headband widening. removing it only opens it more and causes more pressure, might have finally been too much and they reached the breaking point from being weakened over time
