The Official Beyerdynamic T1 Impressions and Discussion Thread - Page 308

I'm now a total believer in the fact that the T1s will nicely scale with better gear. With my AudioEngine D1 DAC, there was a touch of sibilance that is now gone with the Meier stack. I've always ranked my Grado PS500s above the T1s in terms of my favorite headphones, but the T1s have now pulled even. The sibilance is gone, the low end is tight and impactful, the sound stage is wide and the imaging is spot on. Add to that the comfort level and you have one very enjoyable headphone!

I am listening tot he T1 today on both the Woo WA5 and also on the new Sennheiser HDVD800. Sounds great even singe ended on the sennheiser amp but really stepped up with the WA5.

I was torn between the T1's and HD800's but went for these instead. I will listen to that Michael Jackson track tomorrow when I get the T1's to see if I have the same experience smily_headphones1.gif

i have not heard the hd800 so i cant compare them to that. i have the hd650 so all my comparisons are pitted against it. To me it sounds cleaner, clearer and much more detailed. other people have described it as being really fast with excellent decay and all of this is true. the hd650's are a great headphone but i have to agree with other people who suggested that they are slow, muddy and bloated when compared to the T1.

I have not experienced hot treble at all even on old Tubby Hayes and John Coltrane brass sections although i think the WA2 helps with that. Also the model number i have is 11,317 maybe this helps with treble - i had heard before on this thread that beyerdynamic made some changes to the new drivers but then i also have to mention that some other people had said that this might not actually be true so the treble debate still remains a bit vague.

i had expected a lack of impact and depth in the bass going from a dark to bright sounding headphone but boy was i wrong about that. the low end is much further reaching than the hd650 and it is truly amazing how they get the treble to sit over the top of the mix and not interfere with the bottom. All and all the T1 is really lean without being lifeless and its not even burnt in yet. beyersmile.png

Well just buy the WA2 first and keep the STX as DAC  and save for later if you feel the need to upgrade the DAC part , the "STX DAC that isn't enough by far" argument is debatable . (you could also plug directly your futur T1 on STX it will not sound bad at all ...if you need time to save money and want to have a taste of t1 before spending more money)

thanks a lot for your opinion (forgot to thanks earlier)

My T1's arrived this morning s'n 11xxx. I have noticed something strange, for around 2 weeks now I have been hearing a buzz on the left side of my TH900's on the right channel. This worried me at first. However, when I switched to the left channel, it was no longer there. However on the T1's it is not there at all, on the left or right channel I haven't noticed any buzz. I also notice the right channel gets considerably louder than the left channel does. I'm relatively new to audio and I do not understand why I can hear the buzz on the right channel on the TH900's but I do not on the T1's.

Does anybody have any ideas? I will post pics of the headphones shortly, first impressions are good.

I think the T1's are underrated - they sound good with pretty much anything, but with the right gear they sound really really good. A worthy flagship.

First plug your TH900 on something else than your amp to see if you hear buzzing noise , do the same with T1 to hear if a channel is louder than the other .

25 ohms / 600 ohms , the 600 ohms of T1 can filter some of the elecrical little noise / huming  coming from amp or source etc

Would i be right saying the only known revision to the T1 is the new VS old headband (new is said to tame the treble a bit more)

Bought a relatively Low S/N T1 (#3xxx) recently with a new headband replaced by Beyer.. cant wait for them to arrive.

It's the headband , the other things are just manufacturing process variations . (like not very well matched drivers etc) .

Right well i was 95% sure that was the case, but now i feel just that bit better about my buy!

Cant wait for them to arrive really. heard them at a meet and knew pretty much instantly i couldn't live without them.

I plugged the TH900's in to my ipod and macbook pro and neither had the buzzing noise. As I suspected it's the amp, I also notice the left channel is quieter on the T1's and not just the TH900's.

I am contemplating selling the TH900's to put towards a new amp/dac combo... I'm  thinking the Schiit Mjolnir/Gungnir combo should suit the T1's nicely. I'm going to get a HD800 sometime in the future and would rather have 1 solution as opposed to getting another amp/dac combo for the HD800.

I am much preferring the sound of the T1's than the TH900's... the TH900's are a more 'fun' sounding headphone but when it comes to soundstage and overall sound quality I prefer the T1's... and they're not even burnt in yet :D
