The impressions above were with the Meier stagedac, which is very neutral/balanced too except for a touch of added vocal presence which I since heard is a characteristic of wolfson chips...

Man, I love how precise you are in analysing differences... I guess I now understand why you find the difference between Concerto and Classic to be significant :-) I think you just pay attention to every single microaspect :-)

Ugh, left channel on my t1's started cutting out today. Very intermitent, moving the cable or cup seams to stop the issue so im thinking its a wiring thing.

These things are out of warranty for sure, anyone have experience with repair costs or service on these?

Thanks, that's very nice of you to say.

Years of conditioning as a researcher and statistical analyst I'm afraid - not always a good thing!

Lyr with 6N1P tubes are less bright than other tubes yet still more dynamic and lively than Asgard with a touch of warmth. I find bugle boys and Siemens E88CC to be quite bright with T1 but clearer and more detailed , although they make my beloved HD600 more adorable. Thats the trade off I am having with Lyr and tubes. I am now waiting for Meier Classic which was recently dispatched.

Oh, yeah. I like Nightwish a lot. I can listen to their Once and Dark Passion Play albums many times over. Tarja's voice in Creek Mary's Blood with T1 is simply amazing. I need to turn the volume knot down a bit due to sometimes harsh nature of the music. For other bands like Sirenia and Tristania, I'd rather use HD600. :D

Nightwish without Tarja ? Not worth to listen anymore ...

And true mens who really like metal don't have to turn down volume , harshness is a natural thing with this kind of music .rolleyes.gif

(just joking) biggrin.gif

Any way when i had T1 i didn't have any problem listening to it with Sirenia or Tristania , even with things much more badly recorded redface.gif

Maybe it's the combination of the Balanced B22 / Copper Norse Skuld v2 32cable and the stock Denon Dx000 pads.  As to why my pair of T1's are not bright at all.biggrin.gif

I don't find the T1's bright either. They're a relief after something like the AD2000. I don't use my Beta with the T1's often, but out of the CSP2+, Singlepower Extreme and Dynahi the T1's simply don't cross into bright territory. It's frequency balance is one of the aspects I enjoy the most.

Yup, possibly. Ever since updating to Bifrost uber, I can hear it's slightly brighter with better resolution and better sense of dimension, with potential for hotter cymbals and sibilance. My T1 serial is 8245. I will be rolling 6N1Ps into Lyr again. Been using bugle boys and Siemens E88CC alternately these days.

I wanted to order stagedac+classic combo. But taking into consideration I am waiting for Schiit statement amp (or possibly dac too), I decided to save up a bit.

the bright debate is back! its bad enough getting an ear full on the hd800 thread but here as well?

Bah ! every one will agree that T1 is brighter than HD650 or LCD2 biggrin.gif

I couldnt listen to my hd650s after i had the t1. Loved them before i heard the t1 though.

I've got a pair of T1s with WA2 amp - does anyone find listening to Adele or Mariah Carey unbearable due to sibilance?

It's one of the reasons I love them so much.

T1, most comfortable, Beyerdynamic definitely wins this Award

That's strange... I can listen to Taylor Swift with HD800 without any problem, even with neutral-sounding solid state amplifiers. Maybe one of the more bright T1s?
