Rattle Issues?

I upgraded to a T1 be'coz of Rattle issues with the DT880.

Thanks. The Mjolnir should have no problem driving the T1's? I have the Mjolnir amp and Gingnir dac and they sound quite nice IMHO. Wondering if anyone had used the T1's with that combination. Also thinking about the Senn HD800's.

I use the T1 with Mjolnir and it really energizes them and drives them well. Its the best amp i've heard with them.

The T1's are a great headphone.  One of my favorites.  I've heard it on many SS amps and a few tube amps..

The tube amps made the mids to muddy and was a tab bit to bassy.

The Mjolnir was to sharp in the upper treble for me. But the bass and the mids was sopt on.

The B22 and the GS-X mk2 made them sound perfect for me.

Perhaps this is why i absolutely love the Yulong D18 as the DAC in this chain. Just awesome.  Speaking of, I have come to the conclusion that the D18 is here to stay over the Teac UD-501. The D18 is overall a class above the Teac, and while DSD is nice, I have an Oppo player that suits me fine for DSD and DoP works good in foobar. I'd say about a year from now, DSD will have really caught on. Back goes the Teac, it was nice, but not that nice...

Yeah - I've heard that D18 really smooths out the sound.  I have to get one in..

It doesnt smooth alot, its subtle, but it does so in a pleasing way like tubes do. All the details/dynamics are still there of course. It really is an incredible DAC for its price. 30 day in-home trial from Grant Fidelity, give it a shot dt880smile.png

I will say my setup is incredible with rock music and excellent with everything else. Not many setups can achieve that.

Yeah.  I was worried about the detail retrieval and the sound stage being restricted.  With the clarity that the PWD2 and the Master 7 gives It'll be hard to down grade so to speak.   I was also looking at that HEX DAC because it's a NOS DAC...  I'll see..

i enjoy the T1 out of the WA6-SE sometimes for the tighter bass and wider soundstage, can be bright with wrong tubes though.

The best thing about the D18/Mjolnir combo is the fact that both are incredibly quiet, detailed, and dynamic pieces of equipment. Therefore, youre getting alot for your money. If someone was looking to get 98% of music cheap as possible, they can do so for $2k. D18 -> Mjolnir -> HE-5LE (inner padding removed). Many would be happy with that as an endgame rig.

Yep, the Soloist & T1 is a great pairing, especially if you listen to faster/more complex music. The WA2 sounds sexier but it definitely loses out in terms of speed and detail. Which you would enjoy more depends on the kind of music in your collection.

Check out the Mjolnir if you like speed and detail biggrin.gif
