The Official Beyerdynamic T1 Impressions and Discussion Thread - Page 19

Mine have about 100 hours burn in on then and IMO are fully capable of competing with the orthos.

Maybe the orthos will pull away if a more powerful amp is used but then, maybe not biggrin.gif

I'm tempted to get one.  biggrin.gif

My T1 has continued to grow on me since buying them early last summer. I do use the PEQ with my Behringer 2496 where I add 6 dB. @ 1 OCT centered at 25 Hz....cut 2.5 dB. @ 1/3 OCT c 7,962 Hz....and add 4 dB. @ 1/4 OCT c 20 KHz.

I also use my Aphex 204 processor to add "bass slam" as I like to call it...using the Big Bottom feature. This basically adds "drive" at around 40 Hz. It's difficult to fully understand what exactly the 204 does but it sounds great with HP and speakers and adds bass in a way that no GEQ or PEQ can.

I love how the T1 sounds and I listen to a wide range of music...from Classical & acoustic to female vocal...from Rock to Electronic and everything in between.  Every time I put them on, I marvel at the high build quality and classy style. They truly sound effortless with incredible dynamics being driven from my Woo Audio 3.

So the question is, you can only afford one of those monsters (T1 or HD800), and you already have a DT880/600 that you love. Which one would you prefer for a all-rounder setup?

I was pleased with my DT880/250, but I thought they could be improved.  So I bought the T1.  IMO, the T1 is as good or better in every way (except it is harder to drive).  The sounds are similar, but the biggest difference to me was the T1 was so much fuller.  It made the DT880 sound like something was missing.  The T1 has better base and smoother treble.  I had planned to keep both.  I switched back and fourth for a few days, put away the DT880s, and never used them again.  After a couple of months, I sold them.

That was certainly my experience as well. I have never missed the DT880, or 990, after getting the T1. It's better in every possible way.

Hi all, apologies for the slight "off thread" but I thought I would give the heads up on the following. I have a new pair of T1's coming up for sale shortly. They will appear in the for sale section shortly. Thanks.

Hopefully mine will arrive in a week or two.  I should stop reading Head-Fi after that, to keep my wallet healthy.  smily_headphones1.gif

I had to cancel my order because the seller didn't have a new one available.

Received my T1 today.. Officially # 3661

Just thought I'd share a couple of my impressions..

Must say since plug-in till the 4hr mark, the T1s open up quit a bit if. If anyone is wondering, the bass notably hits harder reminiscent of the DT990 with slightly less impact. Also, must say with the little time i've been with them, i'm starting to fall in love. It holds pieces both the HD650s and DT990s had for me and put them together, while adding the soundstage and resolution none come close to. The only major difference I seem to miss is the magic mids the 650s had. I guess I became spoiled from the 990s lack-there-of and the the 650s pushing them forward more than normal. However, for what it is overall, the T1s excel in its detail and ability to allow the listener to enjoy the material. Its mids are very natural and liquid smooth, all while having exceptional detail.

One disagreement I have with some that have stated here the T1s being bright or harsh in treble. I find them perfectly smooth and natural sounding with zero hint of sibilance.

A note about the amps..I agree with many that the T1s work beautifully with tubes. Even though, the concerto does well the T1, the Woo Wa3 made them sound more alive and intimate. It added that touch of magic that makes you smile.

Now just gotta wait for my LCD2s (whenever that'll be) to complete my stable.....for now L3000.gif

Congrats...I still love my T1s more than a year later. Simply amazing all rounders that I have yet to find a weak point...especially like the one you mentioned above. To my ears and with my MAD Ear+HD, Concerto and WA2, I have yet to hear the highs as bright or harsh...IN ANY WAY.
