The Official Beyerdynamic T1 Impressions and Discussion Thread - Page 180

Thanks for the info. The Lyr looks like a great amp, but now im taking a liking to the Woo WA2. Its more than double the price of the Lyr. Are the benefits in sound justified by the price jump?

If i buy the T1, which i very likely will in the future, i want to get the most out of it, but i feel the Schiit amps arent powerful enough to get the most out of them. Am i correct in saying this?

it should  be.

the lyr is supposed to be a good amp, powerful with good sound. but the woo should be better. i've never heard a schiit amp though.

the WA2 is one of the best amps for the T1 and even the HD 800 in that 1000 dollar price range. i dunno how it compares to more expensive options though

The other thing about the Woo amps is that they look beautiful...in my opinion, of course :)

Anyone know of easy to get silver paint that matches the hinge of the T1s? Got a slight nick on it and it's driving me crazy.

Hi,

Tamiya Aluminum Silver looks pretty similar to that. I use it on my Gundam models and it does looks really close.

Thanks Zombie. Know where I can get it online shipped to Aus? I'm guessing Ebay.

Found it: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/TAMIYA-PS-48-SILVER-ALUMINIUM-POLYCARBONATE-PAINT-100ML-/290691016078?pt=AU_Toys_Hobbies_Radio_Controlled_Vehicles&hash=item43ae88e58e

I would very much say that the WA2 is the "holy grail" of amps for the T1s for around $1000 or less. But I did find that the T1s continued to scale with better amps. They were even better with the WA22 and now with the Liquid Fire, I'm hearing things with the T1s that I didn't think were possible.

For a budget, the Valhalla/Bifrost combination would be a great starting point for the T1s. The Lyr is a great ortho amp, but not the best with either the T1 or HD800 from my experiences (with some very good tubes too).

Get the smaller bottle of it that can be painted on with a brush. I can buy you a bottle and ship it to you if you want.

How about those Little Dot amps just under 1K like the LD MKVI+?  I read that some prefer it over the WA something???

Personally I've not been a fan of the Little Dot amps that I've heard. That said, I have not heard the MKVI+. For around $800-1100 I'd strongly recommend the WA2.

A friend of mine (from la belle province) did own the LDMKVI+, but sold it after his WA2 arrived (he too owns the T1s) FWIW.

If anyone's looking at an amp for the T1, check out the Bellari HA540. I switched out the stock tube and put in a Tung Sol 12AX7, getting plenty of clean power without the knob going past 12 o'clock. It's US made and seems to be a quality product at $250
