I can also confirm that the MSRP of these headphones has been 1295 for months. (Although I got mine at 1k by e-mailing various vendors and asking what the best price they could offer was... :P)

amazon has 1159 atm, but it looks like the MSRP did go up confused_face.gif

Even the little "How much does it cost?" ads on the right side of this page has $1295.  When I click the link it's $1399.  Very odd.

Edit: it seems Earphone Solutions is still 1295.  Headroom's is different though.

Even if it went up I think it's worth it.

I just got mine in the mail yesterday ($592). I got a Bellari HA540 tube amp with a Tung-Sol 12AX7 for them and I'm demoing them back to back  with my DT880 600. The sound is still too stiff in the T1s causing me to prefer my 880s mellow sound ATM. It seems like there's a copious amount of bass on the T1, but that might be because they're more efficient so when I go back and forth, they sound louder? They probably just need a ton of burn-in. Anyone else find the same thing?

The bass was clearly one of the first things that stood out to me, yep. I like the low end on the T1s quite a bit. (I love the low end on the DT1350s, as well, but I digress :)  )

My advice would be to listen to the T1s exclusively for a while and then after you adjust to their sonics, switch back to the 880s. It's sometimes easier to recognize differences that way instead of going back and forth.

I definately think a few days burn-in helps. But if you are still finding them

a little bit too hot in the treble check out this mod:

Hi guys, im looking to get the Beyerdynamic T1 after reading so much good things about them. I read that they're comparable to the HD800 which alone suggests these are very good headphones.

So that's the first item in the check list down. Now onto a DAC and an amp. I've been reading about Schiit's line of products, and honestly im in love. The design is great and i like how the Bifrost dac matches with the amplifiers in terms of looks.

My question is, which amp pairs better with the T1, the Asgard or the Valhalla? They both have an impedance of up to 600 ohms so technically they can drive the T1 but which of the two amps 'sounds' better? It boils down to which is better for the T1, a SS or tube amp. Hopefully someone who owns both amps can chip in with thoughts. It may very well be that neither of these are good enough, but hopefully not since i have my heart set one them.

As for the dac, im sure the Bifrost should be more than good enough right?

Ok after further readings it seems tube amps are better, and the Valhalla does indeed pair nicely with the T1. But i also stumbled on the Woo Audio WA2 which is the holy grail of amps for the T1. Now i have to have it!

Only you can decide what type of amp you want.  The T1's can partner extremely well with SS amps that give plenty of voltage swing at 600ohm's .

As you said the W2 is supposed to be very good with the T1's but so is the Woo6se. The W2 will give you a more tubey laid back sound where as the 6se will be more dynamic and better for more uptempo music.

Also consider the Decware CSP2+ and Little Dot Mk8 as too other alternatives.

both sound good with the T1, but the WA2 is still slightly better.

either one is a pretty solid choice.

Personally I feel that comes down to personal preference, both are equally good with the T1's just different and thats before you get into tube rolling!  Take your pick

I can’t speak about the Asgard, but the Beyerdynamic T1 works very well both with the Lyr and the Valhalla. Maybe the Lyr has that little more extra power, sparkle and attack, while in direct comparision the Valhalla sounds sligthly more lush.

Regarding the DAC: that’s right, the Bifrost is more than good enough, and also visually the Bifrost is a suitable supplement for any Schiit headphone amplifier.

Werner.
