Which cable did you decide to use?

If the T1 performs poorly with the EF 5 / Yulong D100 then I will probably invest in a WA3 (I'm never going to spend more on a amp compared to a headphone).

i would just get the WA2, much better especially with the T1.

Always check profile before asking. normal_smile%20.gif

It's the DHC cryo copper cable.

Yup, there's my answer right there... in your meticulously maintained profile. redface.gif

My T1 is all stock. Might need to take it to the next level, now that the Liquid Fire rules my desk.

Seems to me once you've reached a certain level with your primary components, it's the cable that limits performance on the T1s. I believe, with your gear now, you'll find a sizable improvement through recabling.

Hi, yesterday I got my T1 directly from Beyerdynamic and I'm really impressed. The music is so much clearer, faster and much more powerful compared to my DT880 600 Ohm.

But there is one thing which leaves me unsatisfied. Where is the deep bass and the bass quantity ?

I'm not sure if it is me who is already accustomed at the false bass level of the 880 and now the T1 does it right or is the lack of bass related to the T1 ? Did someone of you make the same experiences ?

Is it correct ? "make" experiences or do I have so say "has/have" ? Sorry but I'm not a native speaker.

Thank you

PS: perhaps I should have to look at another headphone. E.g. LCD-2 ...

The T1 has excellent bass, both in quality and in quantity. However the latter largely depends on the recording. From my experience the T1 rarely sounds bass-light, and with the right recording, it will deliver deep and punching bass. The LCD-2, in comparison, has excellent bass as well, most notably more mid-bass. The T1 has less bass quantity, but more speed and precision.

Anyway, both headphones need to be amped properly. The most noticeable sign of under-amping is usually muddy and/or weak bass.

Thanks for the quick answer.

My audio-gd Fun drives my 880 very well and the T1 is much easier to drive. So I think the amp is not my main problem ;-).

Maybe your are right with record quality. I will check it tomorrow.

the right recording will always show  a good bass :) depends on the music at all..nevertheless the t1 are playing everything in its right place but youll have to amplify them okee..:)

I have never tried the A-GD Fun, so I can't comment on that... but IMO, the T1 is NOT easier to drive than the 880. I personally find the T1 to be more sensitive to amping than some famously difficult cans like the LCD-2.

The T1 also scales up much better than the 880 -- that is, the difference in sound quality with better equipment is much more apparent with the T1 than the 880.

Sorry but I don't believe in a big improvements by a 1000€ amp. The differences are really small so I think it is not the amp. For example I already compared the A1 with my Fun (both with a T1) and I did not hear any difference.

Please let me explain my problem a little bit more in detail. My 880 sounds much darker and veiled against the T1. With the T1 I can hear much more details and everything is so clear. Maybe that's why I think the T1 has a lack of bass because of the now hearable mids and highs.

But this is not a problem :)

I think what Olias was trying to say the T1 is very transparent and you will notice differences as the amps do scale up some were very large and some subtly depending on the amp I have used. My preference with the T1 is a tube amp and the bass is textured and defined but its not Denon bass nor is it tipped its very much balanced in the scheme of the T1. Excellent bass and much better than 880 600 ohm bass IMO as I owned them and had them both here at the same time. The better you go with gear IMO the bigger the reward with the T1. There was a huge improvement over the Matrix and Concerto i owned with my Decware CSP2 and it was both noticeable and dramatic.

You are certainly not alone in that belief. It's a legitimate point of view, though not one that I share.

I will say, though, that if your T1 truly does lack bass when compared to the notoriously bass-shy DT880, you have a problem somewhere.

Hmmm but I made the same experience twice.

Ones with a T1 & A1 combo (lent) and now with my own T1 (a newer serial number). The bass is definitely there. Faster and more precise but for me not with the same impact and quantity.
