Frank,

We do have a few places indeed.  I have been to the Skylab Ranch and listened to vinyl playback.  Really nice.

When you say your journey has gone full circle which phones are those?

The T1 and D7000 is where I started last year then bough and owned the LCD2,HE6 and HD800. I also had the HE500 in house for a couple weeks. For me with my amps the T1 and D7000 are my final two as I listen to speakers quite a bit. The T1 get 95 percent of my head time.

Very good info, gents. Is it T1 or HD800 for me? I feel like a volley ball trying to make up my mind--BUT until I decide I've been really enjoying my HD650. It has finally come alive after 2 years.

The Synergy Clayton on the CSP-2 is too die for. Its better than anything else I have tried except the HE6 but The HE6 did a number on my Taboo and could only be used with small jazz recordings so I decided the T1 was the best for my Tube setup and only have the SX650 SS receiver which is hardly being used anymore as the T1 is it most of the time also saves hours on my Taboo so their tubes last longer.

I've already preordered biggrin.gif I was going to get the Miles Davis catalog in a box set before I heard about the Pink Floyd remasters. I just hope that the remasters aren't compressed and they left the original dynamics intact.

For me the HD800s are superior technically. The difference is immediately noticeable. But the T1s are better balanced and have no glaring flaws in tone (unlike the stock HD800s, remedied partially with a recable).

I really don't think anyone can go wrong with a T1. They just sound good from everything and scale well. The HD800s are pickier in comparison and have the potential to sound much worse to much better, depending on the setup (IME).

Additionally, for anyone transitioning from the HD650s, the T1s are much easier to adjust to. The HD800s are a wild departure from the 650 Senn sound and a lot of people find the move up jarring.

Just did a very quick initial test of my T1's. Firstly, they're really well built. They feel sturdy as hell and are far more compact than I imagined. Look the part too aside from a cabling manufacturing seem and some plastic mixed with the metal here and there. They're a tighter fit than my D5000's, and to my ears at least, fit far more snug. Though the D5000 might be more comfortable overall, I prefer the better fit of the T1. The two headphones sound very different. The T1 being a lot wider, sharper and more direct in sonic presentation. The bass is extremely punchy and controlled, and everything generally cleaner and more detailed. The D5000's bass feels slightly padded and soft compared to the T1's. This is just after a quick test on the SR-71A so still likely way off their potential.

ALO Continental should be here soon for a better driven test, despite it still being a portable.

Does anybody heard T1 compared to Grado: HP-2 or RS1i or RS2i ?

Please compare in a few words. Thanks.

Glad you are enjoying them. That tone issue with the HD800 for me was non tolerable. I think you should listen with some glass bottles also to get a good feel for the T1. I originally purchased the T1 when I owned SS Matrix and then bought Rob CSP-2. I also had 6 other SS amps and I can say the T1 with tubes at least for me is the best synergy.  What i love about the T1 is the balance and as I said in my original review of them. I cannot find anything wrong with them or any issue to complain about so for me IMO it is perfect.

+1

This really has been the toughest headphone choice by far. And the patience to wait for audition is killing me.

I am still loving my T1's. To be honest having the HE-6 and LCD-2's I expected to find the T1's lagging in third place but I could not choose between them at the moment.

Last night I listened to the new Bai Bang rock cd. Not the best produced cd and balanced through the HE-6's on my Roc you could clearly tell. I then tried it single-ended through the Roc to the T1's. Again the production failings were obvious but it sounded much better than the HE-6's even though they were balanced. It sounded crisper and better focused. This has happened a few times with each of my headphones coming out on top at various times.

This proves to me that the top headphones all are capable of sounding better than each other depending on equipment used and the strengths/weaknesses of a particular recording

Hey Frank, there is some glass in my setup. I use a tube DAC. All of my headphones sound better with its tube output vs SS (it can be toggled on the DAC).
