Advice on cables for an ipod LOD

After doing some searching online at various LODs, I decided to start with my own DIY LOD.  There is so much info out there that I'm a little lost.  I've found some helpful threads, but hoping for more specific part information.

I don't really care about low profile and I understand 22 awg is kind of the standard (correct me if I'm wrong) but getting the right kind of cable is where I'm stuck.  Does anyone have advice on what kind of cable to get?  I'm not looking for super high end, but something that will be solid.  Also looking at mini jacks.  Does the jack make that big of difference?

Any help is appreciated, if I missed a thread someplace I apologize in advance.

something solid and not high end? check out canare starquad, pretty durable and cheap as dirt ;)

mogami is a good choice as well, but a bit more costly than canare, yet they're more flexible.

for the jacks, either neutrik or switchcraft should work well at low cost, and they're pretty common around here.

that's might be enough for starters.

Thank you for the reply!

If I go with 24awg cable is that too large?  Usually what size of nylon sleeve is used with LODs?

no, most the docks out there can contain much bigger wire than 22awg.

I dont remember the gauge of the canare 4s, but 3/4" barely fits the wire so you can take that as reference.

sometimes I go smaller.

Would this cable do the trick? http://www.qables.com/shop/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=503

I was hoping for thicker wire but don't see any biger on Qables, are there other sites that you would recommend?  Sorry for all of the questions, any help would be appreciated

Yep. For me I often use 26awg coz it's cheaper ;)

Personally when it comes to solid silver I dont favor too thick wires, it makes the cable less flexible and much more expensive, if you insist of something bulky then have a look at copper ones.

Have a look around, there're more sellers out there selling stuff you need than qables alone.

Can you use actual speaker wire?
