Does anyone own the Wyred4sound DAC 2? - Page 82

I like the feedback we've been getting inside the thread. I'm leaning toward buying the DAC-2 spec'd outright, since I have a DAC-1.

Gear mentioned in this thread:

I had the DAC-1. And while a competent DAC, the DAC-2 DSDse is much better sounding. Took about 150 hours before it came into it's own though. Streaming native DSD files from a W4S music server.

I am ripping my DSD files from SACD's using an older PS3 then using Tag$Rename to label them, and add album art. Works great!

I convert the DSD files to 24bit PCM using Audiogate, so I can play them on a DX100 DAP for mobile use.

Now if they would just add DSD playback on a mobile DAP!

I expect the next gen to sound better. One of the main reasons why I went with W4S was their modular approach to upgrades. That said, Clint and I are gonna have to have a lil' chit-chat!

If I can't get it spec'd the way I want, I might sit this gen out. We already had this conversation before but the supplier they use was limited to what he wanted to do for me. So, I skipped a purchase a year back over aesthetics. So rolleyes.gif Hollywood of me.

We'll see...

The DAC-2 with the new SE upgrade was shipped today from W4S. I should have it by next weekend!

Thanks SO. I had a nice talk with Clint about it and about some of their other gear as well.

I might splurge now instead winter/spring. But like I previously mentioned, Clint and I are going to have to reach terms. If I can't have it spec'd to my liking, I'll stick with the classic DAC-1. OR buy another DAC altogether. Hopefully, W4S will wanna keep me.

I am looking at their amps for speaker usage. I can use the DAC-2SE as the pre-amp since I am currently all digital.

Silent.  What's your setup these days?  As I recall it is really impressive!

tongue_smile.gif Then you've mis-remembered! Great to hear from you, Icenine2. I blew up the former system and sold off a few items. I've a few pieces of kit remaining and rebuilding from there.

Two weeks ago, I added a pair of monoblocks and preamp. And last Friday ordered the HE-6 hardwired. Money seems to have rolleyes.gif disappeared - getting a new DAC-2 could happen down the road but don't need it for a restart. Still using my Mac mini music server to feed my upgraded DAC-1 via USB/Coax.

It will make the return trip enjoyable. I might have to send Clint an email just to say "Hello." And see if I get all warm & fuzzy for a new shoe box. regular_smile%20.gif
