The Violectric v282 thread - Page 4

Thread Starter

Having both the V181 and V200 I can tell you that the V181 is no slouch despite what some might think.  It is a very capable amp and I love it to this day.

It is also not only great balanced but pretty darn good single ended as well.  I currently have it running off a system using a W4S dac 2 and an audio server (fanless, custom design).  The V200 is used with Antelope for source right now.  I love Violectric. :)

You can not judge by price only. Believe me I did not downgrade otherwise why to change. The DS sounds better than my old RP010B. The sound is cleaner and the soundstage bigger. If you open the RP010B you will see that the craftsmanship of the DS is superior, the layout better but more improtant the sound to my ears is more Hi-Fi.

Something that always bothered me from the RP010 was the higher floor noise.

Hi, this may be the place to ask v200 owners: How is the usb DAC of it?

And how is the synergy between the v200 and the HD800 headphones?

Go here. http://www.head-fi.org/t/551173/review-violectric-hpa-v200-amp   Plenty of users using the HD 800 with theV200. Ask about the DAC in there too.

It is a middle of the road one with just 16 bits

IMO, the HD800 sounds wonderful with the V200. I had that combo for about 15 minutes in a quiet room at a local meet. It actually changed my mind about the HD800 which I had heard before and disliked.

Mind you, I didn't have it side by side with any other high-end amp. But I did have it next to my LCD2/V200 combo which IMO is pretty awesome.

This is what the other folks who have experienced the HD 800's and the V200 say about the combo.

Some where I read that one of the HD800 designers use them with the V200.

Thats not true, they offer two versions: 16/48 or 24/96.. And to clarify, when I asked, I meant the 24/96 option.

You are right. Mine is the 16/48 so I consider it middle of the road. I don't know how the 24/96 perform.

Hi Musicman...how does the V200's onboard DAC compare with some of your other stand alone boxes? Such as the Wadia eek.gif? Or the PS Audiobasshead.gif?

I don't know I have never tired it. I will try to give it a run and report back in the next few days but I am not expecting to be even close. That is going to be a very unfair comparison.

Thanks Musicman. i really appreciate it but no rush at all. Just curious, and nothing imperative at all.

Does anyone have the 24/96 DAC in their amp?
