I know little about, but am looking for an equalizer

I'm looking for an equalizer. I don't know jack about pro-audio though, so I was wondering if someone could recommend some websites/forums where I can soak up some information. Yup, like Head-Fi.

Also, can any New York City'ers recommend musicians' stores where I start browsing and asking about stuff?

Thanks.

There's Guitar Center. I think one may have just opened on 25W 14th st. Then there's Sam Ash and Manny's Music on 48th St. between 6 and 7th.

I don't know much about pro audio either but there are some people here who do so feel free to be more specific about your questions.

You're looking for an EQ for?

it's all about this kind of stuff.

don't ask the salespeople at GC for advice. they are mostly IDIOTS. really. DO NOT ask them for advice. half of them really are real professional musicians and engineers and stuff... but just cause they are doesn't mean they always know what they are talking about. in general, most GC people are pretty stupid. trust me. i've done business with them for a long time... spent $10,000+ there... i know their business inside and out. you want advice... go to homerecording.com. those guys know their stuff.

Sam Ash is basically GC but at substantially higher prices. same thing goes for them.

in fact, i wouldn't talk to ANY music store sales person. they're all idiots. all the small stores just want to sell their stuff. big stores like GC don't care as much, but they do care about their commission.

....what kind of EQ do you want? for what purpose? there are all kinds, with all kinds of features....

you want mastering quality?--for your home system--room equalization--recording..... blah blah blah....

I don't know why I forgot this but check out B&H Photo Video. It's on 33-34th on 9th avenue. They have best return policy also if you want to try out some gear.

There have been a few really good threads in the past months about Equalizers.

If you do a search for BEHRING ULTRACURE you should be able to find them.

I know that Gerg is big into his EQ's so you might wanna PM him? He's a real nice guy and if anybody can help you out it will be him.

Regretably, that search only return this thread.

Sorry... I meant BEHRINGER. The typo was my mistake.

Anyway, have a look through these..

I'm really keen on getting the Behringer 9624 or the 8024 at some point in the future. Need to sort out some funds first!

Anyway, I hope this helps.

those behringers are only acceptable for playback use. you get what you pay for. that's my warning to you.

i dunno what the dude wanted to use an EQ for... but if it's anything other than room equalization, i wouldn't use any behringer product.
