Hi head-fiers!
You might remember me when I asked you what headphones will sound good with classical or when I was choosing some budget AMP. Since that time I have raised a bit more cash and now plan to build 'proper' system.
During last 2 weeks I did research to find out more about AMPs and headphones that will have sound I expect and/or appreciate and will not cost thousands of dollars. Right now I want to buy Corda Swing AMP from Jan Meier. So far I have only found good opinions regarding the performance of this amplifier. I have also found out that people seem to enjoy Corda and Beyer combos. Since I am really interested in DT880 such synergy would be very appreciated.
And this is where we get to the point I am not so sure about Corda Swing. All of the head-fiers, who recommend DT880 say that600ohm version is much better choice than 250ohm. Corda Swing is, however, a small and - still although I raised my resources - budget AMP. Would it have enough current to power Dt880/600? Would DT880/600 still sound good when slightly underpowered?
If not - what AMPs should I look for? Corda Swing already is not cheap for me, but I suppose I could stretch my budget for about 100 dollars. Maybe even 150 if the difference would be significant. I am not really bothered about the sound signature since I will buy proper source later (not enough cash to buy everything at once) and I will try to match the source to get more balanced or suitable sound. I will also change op amps and do additional mods if needed. For now it's all about providing sufficient power at an affordable price... hopefully. And it would be good if the AMP would not be so big. M-Stage for example is to deep/long for me. (sadly)
Any ideas?
affordable price ...hey but that's head-fi! (one of the voices in my head:D)
