If anybody needs either the jumbos or the bowls, I have both, neither of which I'll be needing, now that I'm making leather pads.  I thought I'd say something here before I put them up for sale.  PM me.

Leather pads? Sounds like a cool idea.

I don't know what material Sennheiser uses with the HD800.  It felt like some kind of felt when I had mine but a number of Grado's main rivals uses velour (AKG, beyerdynamics) while Ultrasone and the LCD-2 go with leather.  I like how velour breathes, which makes it a better choice than something like nagahyde, and a warmer alternative to sponge-like cushions whose cellular transparency makes them bleed bass like nobody's business.  Leather, like velour, breathes, but does a better job of retaining bass.  With the right configuration, a leather pad could give you the best combination of space + bass.

Are you going to wrap it over the bowls? It seems simple enough. Might give this a try myself. Probably would do it with flats though.

Basic Mod. Removal of the button and screen. Found the Dollar store desk tray. For now this will until I get a hold of some good stuff. I bent the screen outward and indented the center to add a little tweak to the look. Something you might see on a Boom Box.

Looking for a material to use for a headband replacement. I like what the other member did for his daughter's Can's..

A few pics of the creating process and fitting. Final assembly and retest.

Sound is better as many claimed.

I need to find some dollars stores and find something like that. Haven't had much luck but this would complete both my now grille-less originals and my woodies.

How are the grills held in? I keep seing busted grills in the pics and was wondering... do I have to bust them up to get them out?

Is it glued in, or is it part of the cup? I haven't opened mine yet to know.

Walmarts, office depot also carry them. They are not that expensive to begin with. I've never looked but have never came across any in a dollar store near me.

Walmart and K-Mart do carry them, but they aren't flat, there are indentations in them every few inches. And Staples and Office Depot carry them, but they are $10. Its hard for me to buy something like that that is just going to be cut up. If I can't find any in the next week, I will do it, otherwise I am keeping my eyes peeled for a cheaper solution.

I found these at our local Dollar tree. I bought both the pencil holder and basket but found the basket to have a larger opening.  I looked at one dollar store but did not find any. Then today while wandering a different store I found this one. It's soft so you  can mold it easily but you can also easily bend it in if your not careful.

Where are you located ?

Northern NJ. No shortage of dollar stores around, I will have to search for something suitable.

They are super glued in. I tried to work it off since it is not fully glued all the way around but no go. I just snapped out. To the trash bin with you plastic grills....
