I wasn't quite sure how to word it.....LOL.

These mods are awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm loving my used/second hand/second owner/already broken in/nice cared for/ Grado SR60's...alot. You guys deserve huge props for doing all these vids and tutorials....Thanks!!!!gs1000.gif

Oh, and Bill. Just an FYI, I only recommend 4 holes to start off with. I have 8 punched and 2 covered with dynamat. From memory, it sounds about equal to 6 holes punched without dynamat. The bass seems right to me. Four holes gets you polite bass, but more gets you a livelier sound IMO.

Also, will you be getting the driver itself out in the next video? That's what I really want to see biggrin.gif. The last time I got the driver out I scratched it to hell, and I don't want to repeat that again. I've already posted this picture, but here it is again to warn you youngsters.

That's about 8 hours of work right there.

Video 4: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pH19DGNQtIY

In this video, I get to cocobolo slip-ons and the performance increase is phenomenal.  The process isn't complete at this point, but it's such a high-water mark that this is where a lot of folks will stop because the performance benefits are so "there."

Awesome videos Bill! I'm sure there will be tons of takers if you're letting some of those cocobolos loose...I know I'm there bigsmile_face.gif

Thanks, everybody!  I appreciate the words of encouragement.  It's fine to take something you love as far as it will go.  I'm not a great surfer (broken toe) and maybe not the most coordinated skateboarder (broken fingers) but if I can mod a Grado to the max, I'm a happy guy.

With respect to those shells, I do have more shells.  I can also point people in the direction of various sources for getting the wood and maybe share some ideas about woodworking techniques, what few I haven't managed to botch.

"Don't do anything I wouldn't do" - That doesn't really narrow the options down too much ;D But your videos are hilarious.

Hahahahahahaha!!!!!  Thanks, man!  Curiosity compels us all to open those doors, doesn't it?  Once you give up your fear of loss, there's no telling where you'll end up.

I've finally done it - in three videos.  I need to upload them to YouTube but there I am, grunting, struggling, slipping, cursing - or coming mighty close to it - until . . . . well, I'll let you see what happened.

I've just vented the holes on my 'phones, and I can definitely say that it's helped greatly. For reference, I've vented 6 holes. I didn't open up anything, as I couldn't get the hairdryer to loosen the glue, so I used a rather long needle and prodded through the mesh looking through it at the light to aim and puncture.

One question, (this is still on the softcore type mods), would committing the scissor to the comfy pads enhance the treble response greatly? I would rather not have any more treble for my ears are nearing their tolerance level. I'm afraid to attempt it as the pads are exceedingly comfortable and they go for two Subway sandwiches, but the lure of a bigger soundstage and clearer sound has me fetching my knives.

I ghetto fabbed my rings so that they have the drivers installed like in your video...however instead of using them as is...I attached them to the metal cups of my SR325i's so now I have this huge wood and metal chamber. All I can say is....

OH MY GOD !!!!!

Here, I start the process after explaining why it's worth doing.

It's a Sopranos ending.  Did I get those drivers out safely or did the Members Only guy come out of the bathroom and blast Tony and the family?

I'm uploading video 6 right now.  It's going to take awhile.  A lot happens in video 6.

Right after it uploaded, it was removed for being too long.

Okay, here is the shortened version (the last couple of minutes of grunt, grunt, yeah): GradoMod6Short.

I think it would have gone faster if I had located the plastic pieces holding the driver in and worn them down.  So much for hindsight.  When I got to the second driver, the plastic wall around the driver gave way to a speaker element that looked much like a microphone element.  That video would be removed for length so I'll have to edit it down to a manageable length.

Wow...I was cringing the entire time I was watching video 6...lol...it's hard to believe you can use such brute force and they still come out ok.
