No, he's right. Big Bill had a guy that was supposedly making some bands.

Actually, it was an acquaintance of Big Bills. I do believe however that the offer is no longer available since he was just doing it as a favor to Head-Fi members, I got one from Bill when he first put out the offer, but I think his leather guy raised prices significantly shortly after.

I hadn't heard any more on it after the initial offers to make more. I just knew it was a guy Big Bill knew.

I like the style of headband I saw in Big Bill's photos... thick and rugged, without the finished edge...

damn so no easy way to get some decent leather headbands now? (excluding $10 beyerdynamic dt880 pro ones)

i was really hoping to secure some well made leather headbands for my sr60i's. i did try to contact jmoney though, haven't heard back from him either, guess he's done with this stuff.

shame, his headbands really looked quite good.

Quick question about punching holes, here is a picture of my RS2i driver... since the felt is 100% intact, does this mean that NO holes are punched?

one more question, would it make ANY difference to remove the clump of dampener on the magnet and replace it with dynamat?

Edit: another shot of the felt in question. (sorry just dont want to ruin anything)

If you search for the posts by 'eclein' in this thread, you'll see where Ed purchased on of the leather headbands through Big Bill.  The pictures look quite nice.

Yes, that would be correct.

Thank you sir, I edited the post and added another question about the dampener, any ideas on that?

BTW: I'm anxiously awaiting your "Woodied Grado Review" bigsmile_face.gif

I don't think so either. He was looking for black mesh and all of Cabillas' cups have black mesh in the pics, so if he was supplying any, it would likely be that same mesh.

And beautiful cable, love the wood. Mind sharing how you made the plug?

Hand ground snakewood plug cover that goes over your standard 3.5mm Neutrik plug. It's pretty time intensive but it ramps the classiness up to 11 IMO. It also makes plugging in really smooth and less "notchy" to me. I can't tell you how much lighter these things feel without a garden hose hanging from them.  I just use a bread twist tie when I wear these outside for a small loop that sits outside my pocket. These SR-60's are currently my favorite just because they're so darn humble! Yes my favorite Grado isn't even the most expensive one I own... I think I stopped being into Head-Fi stuff a long time ago and I just rant about Grados now. How do I get paid to do this?

On the RS1 cups, I can't really afford them now, I could barely afford the silver wire I used on the recable. I saw that his prices were extremely fair but I also have a flashlight hobby and it's gotten to a point where I'm having trouble affording batteries (CR123 lithium cells), not to mention my craft beer hobby.

But yes I have a vision for my dream Grados, I take an SR-60, cable them with that exact cable everybody seems to give me complements for (sounds amazing by the way), RS-1 wood cups out of a darker wood, and I want red lettering on the cups in the Grado factory font that says "CHRIS HIMSELF" on the upper part, and then GRADO LABS on the bottom. I'm getting really giddy just thinking about them now... why can't I just have a dream car like anybody else...

Oh what I would do to fast forward 2 years when I graduate college and get a decent job...
