I'm with you on that one, but I'll have to deal with it when she sees the Visa bill with the charge on it.  Hopefully, the company that I bought these from wasn't incorporated under a porno company name.  If that's the case, I'm in double-trouble.  biggrin.gif    eek.gif    wink.gif

I think of the portapros as a Bastard of Grado adopted in the Koss family.

LOL

That thread was meant to be very tongue in cheek James, but the PP's are sort of like a girl with far away eyes.

Wow. Me too. It's been a little awkward dealing with him so far, but I suspect it's because of the language barrier and the time zone difference. He seems like a nice guy though...

I'm sure they'll make it ... some time.  biggrin.gif   My wife and daughter were in Spain and Portugal last summer.  They'd eat lunch, then all the places would close down so everybody could have their siesta.  The restaurants would re-open for dinner at about 9:00 p.m. - usually when most people want to wind down for the night.

I was provided a tracking number and a link to the Spain postal system.  I did run it through a conversion, but the tracking number seemed like it was a month old.  I'm not sure where things sit at the moment.  Hopefully, I'd see them by the end of next week, as that would make it about 2.5 weeks since ordering them.

I have received cups from Cabillas twice. He is a very nice guy and he ships the cups really quickly. I am from Austria and twice I got his cups right the day after he shipped them! As for his new cups, they are really cool. They are quite delicate compared to other mushroom designs. I am firing them from some MS1 Alessandros and I love their look and feel as much as their sound.
My favourite cups at the moment. When I get Bila's new cups, hopefully, I will re-evaluate. Anyway, I guess you will like Cabillas' product.

Stratocaster,

Thanks for you input on the Cabillas cups.  The new 'shroom cups look great and that's what I'm waiting on.  The following image shows how the driver was liberated from the standard plastic Grado housing, then set into the new cups.  I'm also glad to hear your Alessandro MS-1 impressions with the wooden cups, as I have 2 pair of the MS-1i headphones on their way to me to work with.

OMG.  My cups from Spain just arrived this morning.  We were having morning coffee in the front room and noticed the mail truck pull - and past my mailbox.  My family suspected a delivery - I knew what it was. The cups are exactly as pictured above.  I'll take pictures of my actual cups from multiple angles and get them posted today before I go about installing the drivers.  They arrive packed in cardboard sleeves, then in a plastic bag - which is then inserted in a mailing envelope.  I had to sign for the package - fortunately, I was home.

I checked my PayPal account and I ordered them on June 1st.  So, just 11 days from order time until delivery from Spain.  This is just wild.  When I ordered, I was given an amount in Euros for the cups and the postage costs.  PayPal handled the conversion with their built-in utility, so all was a very seamless process.

The cups don't arrive with any screen material.  So, that leaves a few options.  One can hunt down those letter boxes in black screen from the dollar stores.  Or, head to Walmart and buy one of those grease anti-splatter lids (in silver / stainless) like KneelJung has done.  I'm kind of tossing up options at the moment.

In regards to our earlier discussions on Bill's cups and applying lacquer to the insides of the cups, these cups from Spain are finished on the insides with a light coat lacquer as they appear to have been sprayed vs. brushed.

More to follow.  Stay tuned ...

Good to hear you got them in.

I've mentioned using a spray lacquer before. If you didn't want lacquer on the insides one could build something for the shells to sit on and keep it off the insides.

Got bowl pads today, and gosh does it make a difference. I once was considering covering up the holes, but not anymore. Aside from the fact that it slips of a ton easier, I am absolutely in love with the sound. Its a good mix of the Grado sound and the not-so-upfront sound of most cans, which I would prefer.

We need new mods here.

my billacups suppose to come this monday, but I wont be home until 2 weeks from now, also, I have a SR60i in the way, but cant decide if tearing it appart or use my beloved old MS1 for the said cups.

As for the Jaben aluminium cups, if anyone is planning to do it, please consider the fact that they weight almost 4 times the pastic cups, rod locks are mandatory, same as a headband with better padding, and they can hardly be used with HD414 pads, unless you stand straight, otherwise the weight will lean the cups forth or back when you move. no wonder they included the jumbo knock-off pads, its a matter of stability.

11 days is super fast indeed.

what are your thoughts on this for the grill? there are a lot of computer fan grills at amazon, or any store, that could work. the first one i liked has some sort of botton in the middle, that would be the only con.

most of them look like this:

Masscool FG-2P-120MM 120mm Fan Guard/Grill - 2-Pac Modware Swirl 80mm Laser Cut Chrome Fan Grill CFG80TU40mm Fan Grill Guard Chrome

and they go as cheap as 1 dollar each, check out this beauty (but its 80 mm diameter), the grados should be between 40 and 50 mm. that is 3.1; 1.5 and 1.9 inches aprox. respectively.

It's somewhat of an inside joke that more and more people eventually understand. You will get it someday.
