I can finally see the whites of my toes, peering out from the purple.  My right foot feels like a piece of meat after Rocky has gotten his knuckles warmed up but I'm ditching the crutches for a Dr. House cane.  To celebrate, I bought a mini lathe.  In what may be the purest act of love yet, my wife let me turn some wood on her dining table.  This weekend was spent lazing and lathing.  Your inners are on their way.

funny how english men use the expression "break a leg" for good luck . do not break another leg!

My finished headphones, I decided to go with the Walnut and re-cabled them.

Could you write some about why Walnut turned out superior to other woods you tried?

Bill,

Great to see that you're "hobbling" around.  At this point, I don't know of a better word to use.  Also, I know your list of things to do is limited each day - compared to what you're capably used to; however if you do see this and have a chance, would you also be able to drop my SR325 "liners" in the mail?  I did get the Grados back from Grado in Brooklyn this past week and they're waiting with baited breath and the option of going from stock to superior in a "stealthy" way.

Meanwhile ... take care - don't overdo things.  Though, I shouldn't be one to talk.  We actually dropped and moved in / around 10 cubic yards of compost and installed a major amount of new landscaping and a tree during the past two weeks.  This was all done with my meniscus ligaments pretty much torn up in both knees.  The pain is there - but, I persevere.  I'm trying to get through the summer due to the plans we have in place and hold off on the surgeries until fall - as the doctor said it would be OK to wait until then.

Welcome back Bill! Glad the wife let you experiment on the dinner table without having to be covert like when you first got your drill press lol. Can't wait to see what you come up with next.

Cheers,
Al

If you can, do it in phases.

1) Open the vent holes (some start with just 4 in the first pass).

2) Install the wooden cups.

3) Dynamat the back of the magnet - keeping the 2 air holes open.

4) Reassemble everything and try it out.

5) Finally, if you feel that the headphones need to go a bit further and you want top open things up a bit, you can then remove the ear pads and then cut off that loin cloth.

Personally, I feel that there are 2 items that will probably produce the least amount of difference - the Dynamat and the removal of the loin cloth.  However, I'm sure others might tend to disagree.  But, that's why I suggested to do it in stages - to see at which level you'll get that moment of joy.
