SR60-Mod - Page 237

If you make up another headband just like that one then I'll definitely buy it from you. ;) I want to get a replacement for mine but all that I've seen seem to be just as narrow as the default Grado headband. I want something like covers more of your head, like yours appear to do.

EDIT: Oh wait, I remember talking to you about this. :) You just stitched together two pieces of leather over the default vinyl band. I can do that. Do you remember what the width of both pieces of leather were? I want something a lot wider than the stock Grado band, so hopefully going wider will mean more comfort.

Mackie! Beautiful job bro! I'll bet you you're getting tons of pm for orders as we speak heh.

Would be nice if you created a circular rim at the edge to give it the illusion of thickness and mount a grill over it.

He said something about a broken foot and not being able to do anything related to headphones or something.

I'm not sure if he's talking about bilavideo bill or big bill.

Here's a link to Bill's (Bilavideo) post about tearing some ligaments.  That's been his last posting here.  I'm sure he's getting some well deserved rest.  http://www.head-fi.org/forum/thread/508459/sr60-mod/3465#post_7438692

I've always wanted to try that as well because those pads go over the ear so should be much more comfortable. But I've been told the drivers would be placed too far from our ears and would sound kind of flat and boring when we use it on lower models like the SR60i, SR80i, etc.

They are different but not necessarily better. They are a lot more comfortable so they are definitely better in that respect. Sound wise they are a mixed bag. I think the reason most of us that like Grado's is for their in your face presentation. The jumbos OTOH sound very laid back and give up that in your face energy. It's works well with some music, but is not necessarily ideal if you want your head bobbing. Also paired with the lower end Grado's they tend to not necessarily suck out the mids but they definitley take something away. That's why they sound laid back I suppose. I've never heard a PS1000 or the GS so I'm going to assume they are better suited to being paired with those headphones. I dont regret paying the 50 bucks for them. Like I said comfortable and laid back (non fatiguing). Offer a quick way to mod your Grado and change it's dynamics

Its a Lithium battery 250 mAh, i tried with a Li-ion battery 600mAh but the circuit cant take those

James,

Your right. It's one of those cheap green 9V 300mAh Ni-MH batteries you see on ebay when you buy one of those amp kits.....

It's 2 1/4 inches at center and then tapers down to 1 3/4 near the rod holders. I picked up the soft leather at Hobby Lobby.

And to me it's way more comfortable.

Are you going with the standard 1/4" plug?  The Grados that I purchased (used) had a custom cable with a Neutrik cable.  I wanted to shorten the cable for my needs, so I de-soldered and disconnected everything.  I then put everything back together with east.  The Neutrik cable was a breeze to work with - and, to re-use, too!

My new cups, one set is Sapele, one is Walnut and the other is Beech

They look very pro, really nice job !

Do post your impressions after you give them a good listen.

I'm personally interested  in how does walnut perform since I was thinking on walnut-skinned-with-carbon-fibre cups.

Cheers I had a friend turn them out with his metal lathe, once I have put them together i'll let you know how the Walnut compares.

Nice job, those are beautiful. If you weren't in New Zealand, I'd request a pair. As it is, I'll bet you can do good business with local Grado fans, especially considering the quality of that work.
