quite a few tornadoes. I'm fine, thanks for your concern. There actually weren't any reported deaths or injuries at all. It was pretty wicked though. Such is life in the midwest during spring/fall. If it isn't hail it is tornadoes. Kind of a familiar thing anymore.

The airport was damaged badly, but it will be back up to 70% functionality by tomorrow if they can get the electric back on. Luckily our airport isn't a hub for TWA anymore, or there would have surely been quite a few fatalities.

As promised, Carbo Grado

At first I wanted to short them down to about what the size of originals

ales 003.jpg

During the process it turned out that I have only enough material for two layers per cup. They are not very stiff but I can't hear any troubling resonances ales 004.jpg

Inner part of the plastic is dampened. I have a feeling that it's just like Bila wrote- the closer the material to driver the bigger role in sound it has. In my case there is no dramatic change in sound as far I can notice from 10 min listening. Definetly more bass, it now has a nice thump, reponse of lowest registers is nicely improved. Definetly a step towards neutrality with mids and especially highs.

I should give them some delicate sanding and laquering to improve the looks but I might just make new ones with some denser carbon fiber, shall see.

What are you damping the magnet plate with? Looks like old chewing gum lol..

It's gluegun glue, I applied a small mountain so it does the job by adding wight. I can report it's effective since I noticed a pleasant improvement, especially in shrill highs.

"Hey clc77 welcome to the thread!!!"

Thanks!!

"Wood blocks! doooo it! I know Bilavideo was planning to use all his scraps to start doing something like that, along with wooden caps for the rods and wooden splitters for the cables. Go all out with it if you have the means!"

I think I might try that.

Just curious as to what you guys think.. CMoy BB or PA2V2? I don't have cash either way, but I'm curious which you guys think is better.

Thanks guys! Bill has suggested the same thing and I'm going to just get rid of the plastic and add wood and keep the aluminums, it should sound very nice when its done. I got in touch with Bilavideo and he has offered to send some my way! o2smile.gif

Lol Saintkeat, yes, the Playboy mansion would be a great place to get woodies! biggrin.gif

Cheers,

Chris, I was strongly considering a PA2V2 once, its got everything I'd like from a first amp.

You should consider the Mad Cap amp as well. I've got friends who've heard it and bought it straight off. That's how good they said it was. And they were considering more expensive alternatives like RSA and such before hearing the Mad Cap.

I'm skeptical too. Haven't heard either =D

I recently went with a Cmoy BB because of the simple design and his use of a PCB in his set up.  Although the other cmoy's were cheaper, their construction was cheaper too with bread boards.  The only feature I wish the Cmoy BB had would be the charging feature of the PAV2.  It seems that the PAV2 can charge the batteries after plugging in the adaptor without having an external battery charger.  /end off topic

I love this thread.  MS1 has been hard for me to find and DIY of the sr60 seems fun!  Thank you OP.

I decided to do my own research :) it seems the pa2v2 is more highly regarded. Thanks to everyone that spoke up though!

meh. I've had the pa2v2 and didn't like it. I'd go with a CMOY
