I put some together real quick from todays shipment...Bill out of all the shells you sent me these are the lightest color--what wood is it, these are sweet sounding like a nice old instrument::100_1161.JPG

Big Bills headband just makes these so much nicer looking and feeling....

Big Bill,
You better watch out, everyone is going to want one of those headbands! Looks great on eclein's newest creation!

Headbands are made very well...a steal in my book, the icing on the Grado's shell...LOL

I agree. I'm gonna look at the fabric shop around here first just to see if I can make one myself, but I'm thinking I may have to just start bugging Big Bill to get one of those things smily_headphones1.gif

That looks great.

eclein, Very nice set of Grados you have there.  It's good to hear that you have them sounding like an "nice old instrument".  I guess that's also sort of like a nice pair of comfortable jeans.  Enjoy the music!

greetings fellas! can anyone recommend an amp for a modded pair of sr-80s? they are suited with cocobolo wood and aluminum cups.

i'd like a portable one for my ipod touch and another for my macs. on the cheap to reasonable end.

thanks!

Maybe its just me and maybe the amp was garbage but I had the nuforce icon before. I just preferred the ipod 5.5 output instead.

wait so can you get the headbands pre-made or do you just need to order the leather from someone here and then stitch it on yourself?

Yes, you can get head bands pre-made.  One company that comes to mind is Jmoney Audio.  The lambskin head bands run about $44 + shipping.  You'll have to take the cup off of one side so you can slide the old head band off,  and the new one on (or, that's how I've understood it).  Big Bill apparently has a leather shop that makes these too.  You could PM him for more information.

I'm not sure where folks are buying the Beyer headbands, though.

Hopefully Bilavideo will know what type of wood was used for these shells-"old pair of jeans" is the perfect way to describe it. I have been watching TRON and if you have seen the movie you know the music is awesome electronic stuff with lotsa of low, low, very, low end! These shells and the SR125 drivers with all the mods play this stuff back superbly, I wasn't planning on going back and changing anything on the other ones I have, the BilaGradoeclein 4.0's but I may rethink that.

The headbands on mine are from Big Bill who posts on this thread, he has a friend who makes them, I'd send him a PM to see if he can still get them, build is great, quality is great, price is better than great!!!!

Bilavideo - the shells I have here are slightly thinner and a much better fit, these have the groove for the driver tray and with a little coaxing after opening up the slot a bit, the shells fit nice and tight--BRAVO!!!  These are excellent but I think you may have even taken it a step better is that right??? Bill try and remember what wood these were made of, I got a pair for Mark and the ones

you made for me what is the wood, because this wood would be my choice for shell of the year!!

Bill I have said it before and will most likely say it a bunch more times but your the man!!!

Hey Bilavideo (Bill),

I know you are busy, but I have not heard from you after multiple attempts of contact via email and PM over the past three weeks. If you could respond, it would be appreciated :)

Bill, just wondering if my driver made it in the mail last week (or this week). Just curious because I will be in your neck of the woods (the Sunshine State) the next 5 days and need to have someone grab the package if its gonna get left by the USPS. Thanks a lot buddy!

My B stock 225's arrived from Headroom yesterday. So I enjoyed them stock for a while then did the tape mod to the bowls. It's hard to believe a piece of tape can influnce the sound as much as it does. There does seem to be a bit more bass and it's not as peaky.

Darren, I will PM you.  It looks like I made a mistake in going straight to bed yesterday rather than coming onto HeadFi to see what the latest buzz was.
