Are you talking about with or without the thick sheath it comes in.  My recommendation - which I stole fair and square from Purrin (truly intelligent guy that he is) - is to remove the outer sheath and just resheath it all in something softer and more svelt.  HGA, which now charges double for its wire, sells such sheaths for a few dollars.

I will definitely remove the CAT5 outer lining. I will resheat with either the vinyl stuff or some cool hollow brown laces (if I can find them) as I said to match the brown J$ headband, I think it would look très cool... We'll see what I can find.

Is that Purpleheart there? That looks really nice, but how's the Alu/Wood work in that setup? Better or worse than the inverse Wood/Alu setup we've seen before?

Dare I ask which phone you prefer?

Thanks, I am pretty fond of both phones actually. modding my SR60 was more akin to alchemy than just the simple mechanical processes performed, like slipping on some wood shells in place of the plastic; replacing the stock cable with a silver one; using jumbo's rather than comfie's or bowls; and of course sprinkling them with faerie dust.

That said the HF2 is an amazing headphone. It's richer, fuller, and has more energy (bowls versus jumbo's). They both get a lot of head time though. It sort of depends what I'm listening too. The woodied Grado sounds awesome with acoustic stuff. The HF2 sounds pretty good with anything and down right amazing some times

Yep its purpleheart.  I'm still in the first stages of listening so I'll have to post back when I have more time to actually listen.

Cheers,

Al

If you've never vented the drivers, hold onto your hat.  And while you're at it, don't throw the metal cans away.  When you vent their drivers, you will find the bass more prominent, which will reduce the need to drive them louder.  The result is a much more balanced presentation which, for many of us, is music to our ears.

Where are my manners?  I should have been among the voices to welcome you back about a billion threads ago.  Sorry about that.  We missed you terribly.  I'm very glad you're back.

Welcome back eclein.  Sorry for the tardy post.

Eclein, best of luck on a speedy recovery.

Random Rants: I really hope my Sennheiser pads come soon, its been more than a week. Looking forward to playing around with them.

And I have to say, I am very jealous of those of you with easy access to exotic woods. The best I can do around here is some cheap Mahogany if I don't feel like mail ordering way more material than I need. If I could get some of these woods in 2 foot lengths for less than $20, it would be great.
