Going forward is the right direction Bill

As soon as I "can" I'll post a prediction!

Thanks!  I'm finally getting past some of my OCD.  I never realized a headphone design to give me strage fright.  I feel like I'm turning a corner.  I'm excited about the future.

Those are awesome looking Bill! Love how the grills look on them Cocobolos! The wait is oh so painful :) but if time is what it takes to get great aesthetics and killer sonics, then it is every bit worth the wait.

Stunning job Bill!

That's insane!  You're right, though, HGA just yanked the price of its silver cabling to astronomical levels.  There was a recent surge in silver prices, which would explain this move, but I can't help but think this is very bad for silver cabling.  I'm a big fan of silver but a 7% increase in conductivity doesn't hold a candle to simply doubling your copper and halving your impedance.  Lamp cord will bury them all.

I used Canare Star Quad (4 conductor 20AWG) definitely an improvement in bass, VERY THICK though I had to drill the Rean connectors I got for it to fit.

I actually quite like those. How do they sound?

They do look shaggy, for lack of a better term, but they do look comfy!

They sound really good and they seem like they have more bass than the Sony xb-500's I demoed today but that could be because of the poor source bestbuy had hooked up to them and song choice. But yeah mine have a whole lot of bass.

Got a question.  I've demoed the XB700 several times but, each time, I was so focused on the sound that I didn't give much thought to the other aspects of the headphones.  My question is this: Are the pads leather?  I remember them being luxuriously soft and circumaural but I don't remember what they were made of.

I don't think it's real leather, no.

I believe you are mistaken, the Senn HD414 pads used for vwrap pads are here: Item No. 019545

unless I've been using the wrong ones.

Thanks for posting that NiceCans. I had been looking at Ebay and other sellers, I had never been able to find them on Sennheisers website. I feel kind of silly now. Looks like I can get two pairs for around $14, far more reasonable than $25 a pair. Might be ordering these later today.

Now if only I can find someone who wants to sell me their Beyer headband, I will be all set.

Has anyone here used Mogami Mini Quad to recable their Grados? Thats what I am looking into. I don't feel like paying the insane amount for Silver, yet I feel like the Star Quad will just be too thick. The Mini Quad seems like a good compromise (slightly better sonics while increasing overall look of things).
