Please post your impressions. This is among the best mp3 ever made!

If you feel that way that why haven't you purchased one and given your own impressions?

How did you come to that conclusion?

Because it is somewhat comparable to the HiFiMAN 801 and 602 and those and pretty much better than the iPod Classics, etc.

Since you heard the 602 tell us how that sounds while you are at it.

Ok

This thread looks like the Titanic right now... let's hold off on the impressions until they've actually finished the production model of the player.

I'm sure it will sound fine.  I'm personally in line for the 602 but a little competition is healthy.  I'm interested in seeing how the two DAPs will square off but only time will tell.  Oh, and to Little Dot I say, "You ain't got no pancake mix!" :D

It will be interesting to see how the Dot compares to the 602 and maybe the Colorfly. I have to say that they all look like bricks. :)

I agree about the brick part, but the ColorFly is a beautiful brick IMO. That's the 1 I'd love to try myself.

It is indeed the better looking brick of the three:) Since they doubled the price you will getting a matching back pack to carry the hardware alongside 10 free physio treatments for when do your back in...

I love the design of the Colorfly, but I don't like the sliding potentiometer. Perhaps the manufacturer have included a way to prevent the slider from gliding up and down unintentionally.

I will probably go for the DP_I(if it get good reviews), but since the Cowon X7 is about to be released I have not decided anything yet. I need to read reviews of them both first.

I'm going w/the Cowon X7 myself - but I'm hoping that someone in the NYC area gets the ColorFly, or there's possibly a Head-Fi meet, so I can try 1 out. I'd bring along a few DAP's myself, including the X7 if it's released, so we can all get something out of it.

Interesting spec. I'm sorry, but the size and design make me think it's a gadget from a '60 sci-fi movie. On the other hand, I do understand they need a solid case if the PCB used in the prototype is the intended quality for the production version. At 90$ incl shipping I'll try one. At 500$ + shipping I already spent way more time on it than I think it deserve.

I think the direction I like to see this 'better sounding' stuff go is that we see optical s/pdif out on our Android smartphones and a clip-on DAC. Ether as proprietary option for the phone, or as multi purpose DAC's.I think Little Dot and a many more of the smaller vendors might be able to do a good job on a add-on products like that.
