sansa Fuze vs sansa clip vs Ipod touch vs Cowon Vs others!

Well, i've been considering getting a sansa fuze. However, I'm not sure about its SQ compared to the sansa clip+ , the cowon and the ipod.. So i was wondering, will getting the fuze be a good run for my money? I know there are other threads out there comparing the SQ but i'm kinda busy so i do not have time to browse through them so....

P.S I've been using the ipod touch for 1 year now and i find it ok. But i've not heard other mp3 players besides it.

I don't have a Fuze but a Clip+ - I would say the EQ options you get on a Rockboxed Sansa are as good as any other out there.

Plus the Fuze is cheap - you can't really go wrong.

I have a Rockboxed Sansa Fuze and it compares quite favorably to my 2nd gen iPod Touch in terms of sound quality. The Fuze's sound is warmer and fuller whereas the iPod Touch has a distinctly edgy sound with somewhat exaggerated treble energy through the headphone out. Plus, the EQ options available to you after you've Rockboxed the Fuze are very good and allow you to tune the sound to your liking rather effectively.

In terms of its sound quality versus the clip+, I've heard that there is no discernable difference between the two players so either one you decide to go with will be a good choice.

I've had the clip, fuze, sflo and the sflo is by far better. After that the clip vs fuze is all about what you need and size you want. If you're gonna get an amp get the fuze and a lod. If you're looking for the smallest player with no bells and whistles. Get the clip.

Too bad the s:flo2 is horrible w/the battery life, and updating the firmware is a chore. A RockBoxed Sansa Fuze or clip+ is the better option - or a Cowon straight out of the box.

i've had the first gen ipod touch and the cowon d2+ and i gotta say that the enhancements and EQ of the cowon just blows ipod sound quality out of the water.

I'm hoping the ipod classic has better SQ because I plan on getting either that or maybe cowon j3

The J3 has better SQ than the classic(I have my son's classic here w/me now), as the EQ presets are horrible. It's the same as the iPod vs the D2,.....only with BBE+ now.

ya i loved the bbe+ on d2+. They certainly sound lovely but I have macbook with mac os x and cowon has some compatibiltiy issues.

One being it does not support multiple playlist which sucks since I have about 20 playlists

And cowon is generally really buggy with mac. My d2+ just bricked out of nowhere while playing music.

So I'm waiting to see if they release some firmware update that improves os x compatibility.

I've been coming across the term 'rockboxed' quite a lot. Can someone tell me what it means?

I don't know too much about it but I think basically it means unleashing the mp3 players' SQ capabilities and adding EQ support and such.

Rockbox is an open source firmware for mp3 players, written from scratch. It runs on a wide range of players:

And it's wonderful. The EQ settings are the best, and it really unleashes a players potential.

Contrary to popular belief it doesn't make a DAP sound better, it allows the DAP to use it's resources to the best of their ability. Most players original firmware is lacking, and RockBox is the cure.
