X-Fi Elite pro vs Auzen

I have an X-fi Elite and have just heard about the Auzen cards, wonder which is better.

All the reviews compare the standard X-fi to the Auzen, which is useless.

The elite has a higher SNR, but worse opamps.

Has anyone had the chance to compare?

I am also thinking of swapping out the ops, anyone tried this on the elite (as ever, everyone has done on the basic X-FI)

The main uses of my PC are primarily, playing 5.1 games through headphones (modified Grado Sr125 driven by a Rotel RC-995 amp). The secondary use is 5.1 movies using my speakers (Acoutic Energy 309,308,307,300c driven By Rotel RB991/RB993.)

Has anyone had much experience, I have searched a lot but can only find the comparison to the basic.

Creative is not evil. I find it strange that the biggest companies are always evil. Like they want to make a hostile take over or something.

I have the Elite Pro and later got the Essence ST. I liked the Elite Pro better so sold the ST. However I have dedicated headphone amps and I rarely use the Elite Pro as a DAC. But I did preferr it as a DAC over the ST.

The drivers is a lot better on the creative card as well. At least for XP I use most of the time.

The Essence ST surely has larger caps and may hold up better. Though my Elite Pro is about 4 years now and holding strong :)

I think so. Companies want control over their products don´t think that is so strange. Though it would be nice to be more open to the modding community surely from our perspective.

Do you ever read the license agreement before you install drivers? Modifying is usually not allowed wihtout strict permissions.

Fixing the drivers wasn't really the issue...what was is offering features the user never paid for such as Dolby and others.  Theft is theft no matter how you look at it.

Isn't this entire topic a bit old?

So the Creative hate is covered.

Does anyone know how this compares to the newer cards?

Is the opamp upgrade noticable?

The Auzentech based X-fi's use higher grade components then the Elite Pro.

Yes, opamp upgrades are noticable.
