What is the point of a USB headset?

Logitech seems to make a lot of these. Why would someone go with a USB connector instead of a traditional analog connector? Does it sound better?

Imo, the sound is better with analog headsets. Most gamers use them.

I suppose that if you're source is a laptop or something with a terrible soundcard, USB headsets sound better. Other than that I can't think of anything.

USB headsets are garbage, and basically only useful for a laptop.

Also, nobody looking for serious audio will look at Logitech, Steelseries, "surround" headphones, etc.

Avoid them if your looking for quality sound.

Oh, well that is different.  Grab the cheapest set that will do what you want.

I like using my USB logitech headset because it acts as a separate sound card so i can select it for specific applications (skype etc). other than that I don't see the point as the cable is a little heavier. the sound quality is pretty good..

I need to route calls through my computer so that I can record them. The USB headset works perfectly for this. I need to do a lot of interviews for work and it's essential that I record them. I use google voice for this.
