Need speaker stands recommendation

Thread Starter

I wanted to get a pair of speaker stands for my Focal 706V.  They are currently on my desk, on either sides of my computer monitor.  I'm moving to a new apartment soon and will have my own living room, so I thought I should properly place my speakers.

Should I get the Focal stands ($200; http://www.musicdirect.com/product/80454), or something less expensive?

Maybe one from this website's "top selling" list: http://www.speakerstandsonline.com/Mid-Size-Speaker-Stands-C39145.html

The Sanus brand seem pretty popular.

The Focal stands are 24 inches in height.  Is that the ideal height for the Focal 706V speakers?

If I'm going with the other brands, should I get 24 inches?  Does it matter in terms of sound quality?

Go with the Focal stands. Sanus lower end stands are no good for decent speakers IMO. They are ok for satellites, and lower end lightweight compact bookshelves. But in your case, I'd go with the manufacturers own stand. You are going to end up paying more or less the same amount for decent speaker stands anyway

There is no ideal height per se, the height is determined by your seating position. Companies like Sonus Faber give clear diagrams on the recommended height of your ears WRT the speaker and the toe in required. But general rule of thumb is the tweeter is ear level or just above ear level from your regular listening position.
