It's the Sabre32 version of the Ref-5 I think:

Nice!  Who is going to be the first guinea pig?  I would, but I just bought a Violectric HPA v181 to play with....I assume it will probably be out for sale in a couple of weeks or so.  I would be very interested in how it compares to my Ref5 original dac from Audio-gd.  Depending on the the first reviews of it I most likely will be buying one.  Kingwa is killing my wallet !

ACSS is supposed to be better then XLR when matched with a Audio-GD amp right?

From my personal testing and listening I found it to edge out the XLR, but not by some huge margin or anything.  Ref5-->acss/xlr-->Roc is what I judged by....they are very close.

I'm very tempted by a NFB-1+Phoenix+Balanced JH-13 combo

Finally . I can't see the price. Do you know it?

It's in testing, no price yet- he's just throwing it out there so people will talk about and anticipate it.......like we're doing right now.

If you did a Phoenix with JH13, you better get the gain reduced a ton- Phoenix has a lot of output in balanced mode.

Ok, enough is enough.  How many DAC's is this guy going to pop out?

From what i gathered in the are audio gd dacs all that thread, this ESS version isnt as good as the PCM1704UK version, so if youve already got the ref5 DSP no reason to get this one as well...

I noticed the missing caps as well, maybe it was a picture of an unfinished build.  The pics might be updated once he actually has it for sale?  Who knows.

I was planning on using the NFB1+Phoenix in ACSS mode so gain shouldn't be a problem :)
