Audioquest King Cobra vs. Moon Blue Dragon (and maybe Kimber hero)

Thread Starter

I'm looking to re-cable my system with high-quality but not insane (read 'mid-priced') interconnects.

I'm down to AQ King Cobra, which seems to be a widely popular cable and Moon Audio's Blue Dragon.  I do like the Cardas GRMO connector on the Moon cable, but have no idea how it sounds.

Anyone heard one or both of these?

System is a Quad 99/CDP2 into a WYRED DAC1, Blue Circle SBH pre-amp and MF 6PRX power amp running ERA D10 towers.

All comments welcome.

Well, I see this thread isn't getting a lot of traction.

I don't usually do this kind of thing, but I've ordered both and will be doing a direct comparison after they've burned in.

I'm very curious to hear if there will be much difference between two highly regarded interconnects in the same price range.

Let me know if you'd like any comments when I've had a chance to compare.

I personally like the Harmonic Technology stuff. I use the AC 10 power cord and Magic Link II IC. In my speaker rig, the same IC's and AC power cords, add the Pro-9 Reference loudspeaker cables, external bi-wire (for Merlin Loudspeakers).

Had Cards Golden Reference throughout my big rig system, but ended up with the HT stuff.

EDIT: BTW, I was using the stock AC cable on my modified W4S DAC-1, but found the AC-10 a great improvement. The AC-10 excels at imaging, a very quiet background (lots of shielding), definition (resolution), and natural highs. I use it to power all my components (sans the BPT Signature 3.5 + which uses its own AC cord, the L9).

Looking forward to your impressions. I for one have been quite happy with BJC cables. But have always been curious to try something like the King Cobra or Kimber Hero or Signal Cable Silver Resolution just to see if I can hear any differences.

i use hero wbt and king cobra i wont say i can hear a difference, but i havent tried to hard,  i will say that they are both good cables however the king cobra is really thick and does not bend well where as the hero bends and adjust very easily.

and fyi i have been told the hero is the same  as the pbj, only with a jacket. but there specs do not match so go figure..   i would only get the hero if you need the wbt, if not get some pbj  or if  you dont mind a thick cable get the king cobra.    you also may want to see if audioquest  has a more bendable cable than king kobra.     i am sure for a long king cobra cable  would be great, but i have found there shorter .5 meter cable to be borderline 2 stiff,,

if you want a more expensive cable try twisted cable or moon audio black dragon., cable pro is great too.

hope that helps
